Although cold, snowy weather is still possible, we are a few weeks away from the start of meteorological spring (1st March)
So here are some thoughts from The Weather Outlook on what we might expect.

Oh joy we have three grandchildren next week was hoping to get them out.

Sorry I meant for my area
yours might be better. If it is, can I come round please 😂

MotherOfCatBoy · 02/04/2024 20:44

Anyone would think rising sea temperatures meant more moisture in the atmosphere.. or something.

Pixiedust1234 · 03/04/2024 09:54

Thanks for that link @RafaistheKingofClay . I think I can say I now know what it would feel like if I moved to Stoke.

Rain and gales sounds more like March. April is the month for gentle spring showers.

I think it might be my fault. I bought some car shampoo for my rapidly turning green car. Sorry 😥

justasking111 · 03/04/2024 16:16

I've just checked long range in various places. Don't ask 😭

Perihelion · 03/04/2024 17:35

I'm just so fucked off with the wind and rain. Just checked the rain anomaly map and Edinburgh at about 175% of usual rain for March...and it's shite again. 6C, raining and an easterly wind.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/04/2024 20:27

I think there is hope for a regime change mid month. Hang in there people.

EmmaEmerald · 03/04/2024 23:36

Thank you @OhYouBadBadKitten

I don't even have faith in the forecast for tomorrow. Actually it has changed three times today I think. I was looking because I was hoping to take mum out for a walk tomorrow otherwise she's got to wait for her carer the next day.

The wind and the rain are negating any benefits that I might have felt from an increased temperature. There is a scientific explanation for the rain....

But I can only think that the increased wind is all the hot air that so many people spout these days. 😂

Taylormiffed · 04/04/2024 08:59

pix there's some moss on my car. It must have it's own tiddly eco-system by now.

We're having our fascias and soffits replaced at the moment and I was talking to the guys doing the work yesterday, they were saying that since October last year, they've only had one complete week of dry weather. The rest of the time it's been week after week of rain-interrupted work. They're hoping to finish tomorrow and there's yet more rain forecast.....

Well if you'd seen me this morning. I got up, the sun was out. I did all my recycling in my nightie. Luckily it's a side alleyway so the neighbours weren't agog. It was warm then. I had the back door open, dogs on the lawn, carried on bobbing in and out. Didn't shower until 10 am.

Now I'm cold pondering on lighting the fire. Dark grey skies loaded with water.

God I'm hacked off. We've got storm Kathleen on Saturday just to put the icing on the cake 🤬🤬

Perihelion · 04/04/2024 21:06

It didn't rain today and got up to the dizzying heights of 7C. Still cold easterly.
And now got a yellow rain warning for tomorrow and a wind warning for Saturday 😔

Taylormiffed · 06/04/2024 12:21

Any increase in temperature in Hampshire is being cancelled out by the wind. I've put the heating on.

justasking111 · 06/04/2024 14:27

It's really warm here. Storm Kathleen at it's height. Been sunny this morning a bit cloudy now. But it's warm.

gingercat02 · 06/04/2024 15:10

It v warm for early April up here in the NE of England, we often used to have snow at this time of year, but not for a while now.
The wind is really getting up, need to bring the washing in before it ends up in the sea.
Relatives in NI are reporting lots of trees down and general wind related chaos.

EmmaEmerald · 07/04/2024 19:56

My brain has fallen out. Seriously.

I feel absolutely bizarre.

It's a combination of lack of light and lack of fresh air I think. I have mentioned many times that I have to do my errands on foot so I do get out most days, it doesn't help.

So there was some sunshine today but I was just going to get blown to the next county if I went for a walk so I didn't do that.

I'm so sick of it. Just some normal, not raining, not windy weather would be nice.

Taylormiffed · 07/04/2024 20:02

Em I swore at the wind on a run today. I didn't even benefit once it was behind me as I was so worn out and fed up.

EmmaEmerald · 07/04/2024 20:34

@Taylormiffed love your name

I'm in awe of the people I see out running but I do honestly find myself wondering how you do it. I've got two contacts who think this weather is "exhilarating". I'm pissed off just walking to the station.

one forecast has high winds for Tuesday too.

RafaistheKingofClay · 07/04/2024 21:39

There’s a weather warning for strong winds in parts of the SW Mon evening into Tues morning so I’d imagine it’ll be quite windy elsewhere too.

GloriaSmud · 08/04/2024 07:40

More warnings for wind and rain today and tomorrow.

And Wednesday night into Thursday, the west coast of Scotland might see wind/rain warnings as a low pressure system skirts by the coast but after that, it finally looks like things settle down and we might get some decent weather.
