Thanks OYBK!

Thank you. Got really frustrated with our local press when they kept referring to Storm Henk a few days ago - he's real now!

blobby10 · 02/01/2024 09:50

I know it winter but it would be so lovely if it would just stop raining for a few days! The ground is so waterlogged and even tracks which have been hardcored are muddy - please can we just have a week where its dry?!!!

hoochycrone · 02/01/2024 09:52

Thanks Kitten 🥰

Indeed. And I just know that by April South East Water will be saying "We've had a drier than usual March so we need a hosepipe ban."

Just getting my big FUCK OFF in, in advance.

We are just south of the amber warning - very gusty, already had to rescue next doors bin that was making a bid for freedom - glad school isn't back till tomorrow here.

GrouchyKiwi · 02/01/2024 10:18

That explains why there's nearly no wind in my part of Scotland (very unusual). It's all gone down South.

Hope you all stay safe and dry.

Starch1e · 02/01/2024 10:31

I'm in London, just on edge of amber warning. At the moment it's still and quieter than last few days... will see how it develops!

ErrolTheDragon · 02/01/2024 10:32

About to get a train from Bristol, there are cancellations on some lines (not mine)due to flooding

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/01/2024 11:11

Thanks hoochy. I'm back and thankfully I didn't drown, disappear into a mire, nor get flattened by a tree (winds quiet here at the moment). I certainly would not go out to run or walk in woods later when the wind is expected to strengthen locally.

I agree, the wet just needs to piss off. My trail shoes are full of water again, my leggings covered in mud and a lot of my favourite trails are completely under water and inaccessible. It's felt like this since October.

Thanks OYBBK. We are in the weather warning zone. Very wet at the moment but little wind - I expect that to change by mid afternoon. I have to drive later and am not looking forward to it.

doggiedude · 02/01/2024 11:45

Anyone know if trains are disrupted running into Kent ? Nothing I can see on internet. If anyone hears of disruption can they post please. Am at work all pm so cannot check .

BettyBakesCakes · 02/01/2024 12:09

We re in the amber zone and there's not so much as a breeze atm. Very eerie.

piscofrisco · 02/01/2024 12:11

Us to. Constant rain but not a breath of wind.

Sunbird24 · 02/01/2024 12:13

I lost half the felt off my shed roof about 3 storms ago and it’s not been dry enough since to replace it!

Wednesdaysotherchild · 02/01/2024 12:14

Very gusty on N.Cornwall Coast! In fact probably the windiest it has sounded of all the recent storms but that may be due to the changed wind direction getting further into our valley here. Forecast says gusts only about 48 though.

GloriaSmud · 02/01/2024 12:20

Netweather's thoughts on Storm Henk.

Awful here (Leicester.) We're under yellow warnings for wind and rain but so far, it's just been heavy rain.

Like others, I'm so fed up of waterlogged places ~ this is where we attempted to walk FosterDog yesterday. That path that disappears under water, usually goes off into the distance and it's green meadows either side. At the moment, it's a lake and there were swans swimming on it yesterday!

Why are storms now named after Dutch boomers? First Gerrit, now Henk Grin next one Martijn?

Why? Just curious

AdamRyan · 02/01/2024 12:34

I'm in the amber area and there is no wind really, certainly no more than usual for the past few weeks. Calm before the storm maybe?

Aah thank you 😊

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 02/01/2024 13:30

We've just been to a (pre-booked) activity. Getting there was fun - usual route closed due to water, long route with lots of deep puddles on the roads and lakes where farmland was supposed to be. It is miserable out there.

I appreciate your posts OYBBK. I always come over here when I want to know what the weather is going to do.

trulyunruly01 · 02/01/2024 14:03

I'm in the yellow area, not far from Kent coast. The wind is the worst I can remember over the past month. Fences are swaying by a good 8 inches so I suspect a few broken posts. All sorts of weird creaky noises going off.
I'm in clay and there is just nowhere for the water to go plus Ditchwatch has started again.
This winter is beginning to seem like that of 2013-14 when I had just moved here from a big city - I spent most of January wondering what the hell I had done, looking out at floodwaters and downed branches.
