After the dramatic weather for some over the last few days, mostly covered in the Thunderstorm warning threads, I think it's time to switch to a new thread. After all, we are two weeks into meteorological summer.

Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ... It...

We’re back to perfect weather for me! The next week looks absolutely lovely.

BiddyPop · 26/08/2023 10:30

Thunder and heavy showers in Dublin yesterday evening. Forecast today is for more heavy showers scattered through the day...

And the temp dropped significantly between Thursday and yesterday from a balmy 21 to an autumnal 13 in the afternoons.

GloriaSmud · 26/08/2023 12:50

Just had a rumble of thunder here (Leicester) and it looks like thundery showers could develop anywhere over the country, for the next day or two. Monday looks better for everyone. Next week is looking OK but still a chance of the odd shower.

justasking111 · 26/08/2023 12:58

Torrential rain in N Wales sometime during the night. It's sunny now so have risked one load of whites on the line.

Feeling sorry for campers last night it must have been horrendous.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 26/08/2023 21:31

Thunderstorms lightning rain and hailstones this afternoon from lunchtime and mid afternoon in SE London today.

Anyone have any idea what’s on the cards for tomorrow?

justasking111 · 26/08/2023 21:35

Well our neighbours drain went kaput last night so much rain came down the hill, his drains under the back lawn couldn't cope he has raw sewage everywhere 🙈

Wow, which area was this? We've had torrential, flooding rain, but the drains are in tact so far!

justasking111 · 26/08/2023 23:03

North Wales, it runs off the hills and down through the roads our cul de sac funnels it and we're at the bottom but a bit higher up. It's happened a few times in the last few years

deeplybaffled · 26/08/2023 23:36

We’ve had utterly torrential rain in Liverpool over the last couple of hours. A few gutters gave up completely and where the drainpipes were working, the rain was coming down them so fast that you had horizontal jets of water shooting across the pavements.
Welcome to an English bank holiday weekend….!

OnionBhajis · 26/08/2023 23:39

Longleat tomorrow....

Met office says no rain. Bur other apps all say rain!?

Any crystal balls...?

MotherOfCatBoy · 27/08/2023 13:25

In South Devon for the weekend - showers, cloud, bit of sunshine but thankfully no downpours.

pinkchampagne1 · 28/08/2023 08:31

We are off to Longleat today too.
Latest forecast shows cloudy and slightly chilly weather with rain and storms on Thursday.

GloriaSmud · 28/08/2023 12:33

pinkchampagne ~ That forecast for Longleat is probably about right. Thursday looks about the worst day of the week for the area.

beenrumbled · 28/08/2023 16:11

We drove out to the beach for a walk this morning - Lytham St Annes.

It was very windy so I feel like my face has been sandblasted.

Light blustery showers and spells of sunshine in amongst the greyness; I'm glad I went as the cobwebs have definitely been blown away!

Tomorrow is Chester Zoo - looks like we may get some showers, but I'm hoping that means that it wont be that busy!

GloriaSmud · 29/08/2023 07:14

It's so dull here (Leicester) this morning ~ feels properly like Autumn is coming Sad

pinkchampagne1 · 29/08/2023 08:49

Yes it looks pretty grey here at Longleat this morning. Tomorrow looks brighter but quite cool and then heavy rain and storms for Thursday which is rubbish. 😣

justasking111 · 29/08/2023 09:06

Couldn't sleep last night because it was hot and sticky. Yet yesterday morning I yearned to put the heating on.

Delatron · 29/08/2023 10:24

I think we can conclude it has been the worst summer for quite some years. I think 2020 and last year had lulled us in to a false sense of security.

I’d even been thinking more about UK holidays in the summer hols and saving abroad for May/Oct. That’s a big no for next year.

Pixiedust1234 · 29/08/2023 13:20

Just popping my head round to ask if summer is nearly here yet. Surely we will get the usual last warm hurrah as the kids go back to school...😳

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 29/08/2023 13:25

Chilly, cloudy, bits of sun here and there. SE London. July was better.

Ha me too! I’m off to France for 2 weeks in September/October.

July was awful here - Bucks. Every weekend was a complete washout. Festivals/camping/holidays ruined.

Have a great time at Chester Zoo! We went a couple of weeks ago when it was hot, and the place was heaving, to the point that we left early. Hopefully your day will be better!

I know. My spiritual home is the north with its lovely rain and wind, rather than sticky south where I actually live!
