Spring Weather watch

Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ...

It looks like we've a fairly unsettled couple of weeks coming up overall, with plenty of showers and rain. I'm afraid wintry showers are still likely over northern hills for a time yet.

Water storage will be grateful for the rain and at least there's a chance of spectacular cumulus cloudscapes on showery days (as opposed to these grey gloomy days which frankly can sod off)

Oh my today is glorious, finally! I’m taking a sneaky work break on the sunlounger with the dog also enjoying the sun!

I've been on the decking in the sun this afternoon occasionally lobbing a toy duck into the garden for the dog to retrieve. The heat has helped my old bones get moving. It's lovely

InMySpareTime · 03/05/2023 16:18

Got 3 loads of washing dry on the line, and the days feel even longer in the sunshine.

Tricyrtis2022 · 03/05/2023 16:20

@InMySpareTime, bet you feel like Queen of the Universe. I always do when I get a big pile of laundry line dried.

InMySpareTime · 03/05/2023 16:23

I really do (though I am now having a long sit down after changing a duvet cover so perhaps not invincible).
All folded away, I love doing that job while the washing is still warm from the sun, it's like I've put some sunshine into the drawers along with the clothes.
Enjoying the rare sight of the bottom of the laundry hamper!

justasking111 · 03/05/2023 16:26

I did a big load of washing this morning because of my bad back OH volunteered to go out to the garage to the tumble dryer. I darent stretch to hang stuff outside on the line yet.

I've just been out to the garage to collect it only to find OH carefully sorted it put his stuff into dry and left mine wet in the basket. 🤬

RampantIvy · 03/05/2023 17:32

Sunny here today, but struggling to hit 16 degrees.

SquirmOfEels · 04/05/2023 13:49

Dull and overcast here again today

And I've just seen something in the papers saying it's likely to be dull and wet for at least another fortnight or so.

justasking111 · 04/05/2023 13:57

18c here again but an Easterly wind again so feels colder

RampantIvy · 04/05/2023 15:12

11 degrees here Sad

Hedjwitch · 04/05/2023 15:32

Cold, cold, cold. Might put the heating on.

TrombonesAreNotBones · 04/05/2023 18:11

A sunny and warm day here in Salop. But so, so chilly tonight. I might move my seedlings back in, there's hardening off and there's leaving them out to perish!

KnickerlessParsons · 05/05/2023 11:44

North Wilts - grey, wet and cold. It could be November, apart from the light mornings and evenings.

justasking111 · 05/05/2023 12:01

19c here but a cutting easterly on the coast.

KeziaOAP · 05/05/2023 12:33

West Gloucestershire sunshine and showers 18c.

SquirmOfEels · 05/05/2023 12:34

Just had thunder and lightning here in London, and looks like its settling in for a wet afternoon

RampantIvy · 05/05/2023 12:36

14 degrees here now. Would love 19 degrees.

MissyB1 · 05/05/2023 13:35

KeziaOAP · 05/05/2023 12:33

West Gloucestershire sunshine and showers 18c.

Also Gloucestershire, have to keep dodging the showers! Forecast is miserable for the next 10 days 🙁

YouveGotToGrooveIt · 05/05/2023 13:48

I've got to say, East Midlands really pulled it out of the bag today. It was meant to be cool, cloudy and a bit wet. It's actually been bright, sunny and warm enough to drink coffee in the garden (finally!).

Fingers crossed for similar over the weekend (for everyone).

Tricyrtis2022 · 05/05/2023 14:00

We've had a lot of thunder and a few showers in Oxfordshire, but mainly there have been clouds and sunny spells.

NewBootsAndRanty · 05/05/2023 14:18

Hailing heavily in my bit of Yorkshire at the mo.

I haven't heard anyone say Salop for ages. Aww.

today is meant to be nice and I'm looking at being on the Tube.

and tomorrow is meant to be crap? I'm quite confused but tbh I don't really believe that today is going to be a lovely day in the middle of all the crappy ones.

nannynick · 07/05/2023 12:43

Sun is out and I am wearing a t-shirt in West Surrey. May get above 18 degrees today.

Tricyrtis2022 · 07/05/2023 12:51

I've got three loads of washing on the line and it's drying too 😀

RampantIvy · 07/05/2023 16:02

21 degrees here in South Yorkshire. The first properly warm day this year.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/05/2023 17:28

Tomorrow does look very wet in the afternoon for you Emma.

I'm hopeful that in the south at least as we go through this week it will settle down after mid week. Some more rain, showers and thunderstorms to come first though.
