if you have clear dark skies looking to the north, go outside now! Even reportedlyvisible from some parts of southern England.

So much cloud cover here in south west Ireland unfortunately. But is this it behind the clouds? Every photo seems to have a faint green red? Or just wishful thinking…

I'd best head to bed. It's been lovely sharing this evening with you all, even if all I have is a bit of a green glow and frost bite. Grin

May your dreams dance with the night skies. Sleep well!

Same here. One more look from where I am, and I'm off. I have to be up in 6.5 hours. Shock

Thank you @OhYouBadBadKitten.

Ruth98 · 27/02/2023 00:24

I'm looking over the peak district. Nothing more than a few villages for 50+ miles. Before I read this post I said to my husband that it looks like there some sort of strange experiment happening in the peaks as the sky looks green. Still not convinced. I'll take photos later in the week and compare I think. Lovely to see everyone elses photos though

Sometimes it's lovely living in Northern Ireland. Not my pics

In the above photo, no editing or filters and was visible to the naked eye

Might be wishful thinking but a pink tinge to the north, maybe. I'm in North London/Herts border. Loving everyone's pictures from Scotland.

On the North West London / Herts border too and I definitely noticed an azure-y sky tonight. Wishful thinking maybe…?

CockSpadget · 27/02/2023 02:01

The pics from Scotland are amazing! Seriously considering an impromptu trip up there tomorrow (well, today)

ademanlu · 27/02/2023 07:20

It was an amazing sight last night - we actually pulled over at the side of the road on the way to our normal viewpoint as it was so huge in the sky - am on the North Coast of Northern Ireland.

Excellent pictures - lucky people that got to see the show! Might be the chance to see more Aurora over the next few nights - another CME is coming our way.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2023 07:43

Good morning sleepyheads.

Rather meanly, cloud cover is going to be a more widespread issue tonight. This is the Met Office forecast. I'm crossing my fingers that it thins out more than this suggests.

Still, it does give further opportunities to a good few people.

Loving all the fab photos.

picklemewalnuts · 27/02/2023 09:14

@OhYouBadBadKitten will people in cities have any chance? Given light pollution? I would love to see it, but don't think I'd have much chance.

HeavenIsAHalfpipe · 27/02/2023 00:19

OMFG! Shock

I know, right? I have friends that live there. Must remember to schedule a visit for February!

GloriaSmud · 27/02/2023 10:24

More pictures in The Guardian and on the BBC website.
Oh please let there be a break in the clouds tonight - I want to have a go at seeing something!

Possibly, I've seen some from last night. Tonight's storm might be stronger, if everything lines up right.
Obvious barrier is also potential cloud. Don't take the above snapshot as absolute!

@OhYouBadBadKitten any indication on times? I'm plotting a trip to Dartmoor. I've never seen the aurora and I've always wanted to, so it's worth a go!
