if you have clear dark skies looking to the north, go outside now! Even reportedlyvisible from some parts of southern England.

Ooh thanks @pompomdaisy , might have to wake the mogs and go have a look.

If I give them Dreamies they might forgive me.

LittleBrownJug · 27/02/2023 21:24

Very faint in Kent. Me & the other woman on the beach both agreed it was definitely Aurora. But nothing as spectacular as some of the other pics. Maybe later. Is quite cloudy.

HeadsShouldersKneesAndMyGreatAuntsWalkingStick · 27/02/2023 21:26

I've never ever been one to follow the Aurora but his thread has got me downloading the app and going into my garden every 10 mins 😂

Nothing yet but loving the excitement:)

DoratheAurora · 27/02/2023 21:29

If this thread piques your interest, there are some amazing aurora chasing holidays. Whilst the lights we're getting are beautiful, the lights in northern Finland/Norway really are something else.

Hebridean · 27/02/2023 21:36

It's died down a bit here so I've come indoors to defrost.

Turnipworkharder · 27/02/2023 21:36

How exciting how long will they last ?

JuneOsborne · 27/02/2023 21:41

Nothing Midlands way yet. Excitedly waiting though. We had a really clear spell but the clouds are moving in.

EmmaStone · 27/02/2023 21:43

South of Bristol tonight. Couldn't see anything with the naked eye, but came out on our phones (thanks for that tip, I wouldn't have tried otherwise!). Never seen them before, the pics from Scotland and Canada are absolutely phenomenal!

How common/uncommon are the Northern Lights in mid/southern UK?

MrsMoastyToasty · 27/02/2023 21:49

@EmmaStone how far south of Bristol? I'm between Bristol and Bath but I think that the light pollution from the 2 cities is obscuring it.

Amybelle88 · 27/02/2023 21:51

Is this something? Or am I just reallyyyyyy wishing it was 😂😂😂

Rural - about 10 miles.

LoudestRoar · 27/02/2023 21:55

Definite lighter sky in Essex, did I catch it??

deaffyduck · 27/02/2023 21:55

From Derbyshire about an hour ago. All quiet now

Papergirl1968 · 27/02/2023 21:59

Midlands - about eight miles South of Wolverhampton and the sky looks light but nothing really showing on camera.

Yes i've been out, sky is a strange colour, there is too much cloud i think.

5ever · 27/02/2023 22:04

Clearly visible on the horizon in rural Norfolk! A beautiful green glow. Amazing

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 27/02/2023 22:13

Nothing here between Leeds and Harrogate, just rain and fog. Are they due tomorrow too?

TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 27/02/2023 22:15

Nothing here but got some nice sky pictures anyway

Nothing my way yet. Been sitting out for a couple of hours in hope. Lovely clear skies though.

I thought the night sky looked a bit odd last night. Had I seen it without realising ? Story of my life.

HeadsShouldersKneesAndMyGreatAuntsWalkingStick · 27/02/2023 22:21

@Amybelle88 your pics look hopeful I reckon.

There seems to be light above the cloud rather than under it, so less likely town light pollution.

Where in Norfolk please? We're on Old Hunstanton cliffs looking exactly north but there's nothing except ship lights on the horizon. And rain and cloud.
