if you have clear dark skies looking to the north, go outside now! Even reportedlyvisible from some parts of southern England.

Aurora visible here on this Icelandic webcam.

OnMyWayToSenility · 27/02/2023 19:38

Oh wow only just read through this! Last night in deepest darkest Oxfordshire I looked out of the kitchen window facing west and wondered why it was an odd lightness to the sky!
It's all clear here tonight so we're all going to stay up 😀

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 27/02/2023 19:58

Went on the hunt up the hill in darkest Kent. There is definitely light in the sky to the north but nothing specific unfortunately.

HeadsShouldersKneesAndMyGreatAuntsWalkingStick · 27/02/2023 20:06

Looks like there was lots of activity this evening at around 6. Does anyone know if this means a higher chance of a display tonight?

Perihelion · 27/02/2023 20:09

I went to bed last night 😭
Would have been able to see it from the beach a couple hundred metres from my house. Gutted, but am consoling myself that I did see the awesome aurora from a huge X class flare 20 years ago....stil gutted 😂

SecretCoconut · 27/02/2023 20:16

Trying to decide whether or not to make the effort to travel to the coast for a look! That graph thing in the app is showing green just now... do we wait for it to change or just go 🤔 it's about half an hour's drive.

picklemewalnuts · 27/02/2023 20:18

If there was a big flare at 6, what time would we expect to see something?

I feel like this is my one and only chance to see it, so ought to make a decent effort!

RedRiverShore3 · 27/02/2023 20:25

DH is at North Norfolk and he said it is very busy and raining a bit...

Somewhere near Brancaster, lots of cars turning up but no lights because of cloud, everyone is out for the big event but the weather has scuppered it, he's hoping it will clear.

picklemewalnuts · 27/02/2023 20:46

Ooh!

DoratheAurora · 27/02/2023 20:49

Started here in Perthshire too. Cloudy, but they are still visible.

DrFoxtrot · 27/02/2023 20:54

Is anyone in Lancashire? I'm on the coast and it's still cloudy here!

DrFoxtrot · 27/02/2023 20:55

Also, great thread 👏

LancashireSquirrel · 27/02/2023 20:58

Cosycover · 27/02/2023 21:10

Red alert just now and can't see a thing in West central Scotland.

Do you need to be on high ground?

Hebridean · 27/02/2023 21:15

I'm not on high ground @Cosycover.

It's even stronger tonight than it was last night. Bright pink clearly visible to naked eye. Incredible.

picklemewalnuts · 27/02/2023 21:17

Cloudy here. I'm going to hide the thread!

BarbaraofSeville · 27/02/2023 21:19

Just got a red alert here in West Yorkshire but I think its cloudy and Id have to disturb a couple of sleeping cats to go look.
