Bit of a wild few days in store. The met office have named the storm on Weds/Thurs as Storm Dudley, so forecasts and impacts will go in this thread for those two days.

I'm about to start a separate thread for Storm Eunice which covers Fridays weather.

I’m in London, due to travel to Newcastle by train tomorrow, arriving in the afternoon, and travelling back to London on Saturday.

Am I mad? Or am I, as I hope, likely to dodge most of the extreme weather?! I note that LNER is advising people to travel tomorrow not Friday so I’m hoping that means tomorrow is ok…

Newcastle here, bit blustery but no worse than we've had before.

You're welcome. I am no weather expert but tonight doesn't seem half as bad as expected. My recycling bin has survived so far the last storm seen my wine bottles all over the garden making it look like a homeless hangout my milk bottles are safe Grin

It looks like a pretty good plan. There could be some residual disruption on saturday depending on how many trees they need to pick up off the line and where trains have ended up if they need to stop service altogether on Friday.

If even OYBBK thinks it's ok, I'm safe to pack my suitcase! Good luck with the recycling box @FrasierCraneDay!

I hope that those if you still in the thick of it can get some sleep soon. Goodnight.

In London - I can't believe how windy it is and we are not in any kind of warning at all. Must be so much worse elsewhere! Stay safe everyone

Durham. Off to try to sleep, despite my bedroom roof rattling even worse than during Malik and Arwen.

Coastal Irish Sea here, right in the middle of the area, tbh we had worse recently. I have a creaky roof beam that only normally makes a noise when the wind is force 9 or above. Apart from a few creaks it's been quiet. Hoping for a good nights sleep

West coast Scotland, Argyll, it's finally calming down here a wee bit but it was a rough night. I lost track which storm this was.

Violetmo0n · 17/02/2022 07:43

All is calm in Newcastle this morning.
Not as bad as I thought

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/02/2022 07:45

As ever with storms, some will see stronger gusts than others and I think after Arwen this will have felt quite a lot weaker for many.

That was Dudley Igneococcus.

Yes, it was strong gusts on occasion, but Arwen was worse for us. We weren't bothered by it overnight at all. Let's see what Eunice brings, however!

Igneococcus · 17/02/2022 08:03

Thanks Kitten It seems we will escape Eunice up here. My dormer window is still covered up in tarpaulin because of damage caused by Corrie. I just want it to calm down enough for long enough to fix the dormer roof.

@Igneococcus apparently Eunice whilst not bringing high winds will I stress bring snow to parts of Scotland. Dc are certainly hoping that's the case

Damage report:

W MIDs:

One fence panel down on the corner House. They have had two new panels in the last wind storm. Suspect the rest will go tomorrow.

One of the other houses has lost the gate and gate post.

Ex lives in one of those places where old sofas and furniture goes out on the street/front yard if it will fit. There are a lot of unsecured items. The house opposite has a drawer on the extension roof. There is a broken mirror outside next door on the pavement a bit of wood lying in the road.

Next door to him had a new roof so one less worry for him. The dying trees are to the west of him so fingers crossed they don't topple on the house.

I saw that @liveforsummer I'm right by the coast, I have the sea on two sides, snow usually doesn't lie where we are, it only ever covers the ground from a few miles inland. I have friends who are travelling back from some Spanish island tomorrow, I hope they get home ok.

@Igneococcus I'm costal too so snow is less common. I've no idea how much is expected on higher ground though. It's not been mentioned if it's anything heavy or just light showers.

Report
Igneococcus · 17/02/2022 11:28

The BBC forecast for my closest location says heavy snow showers all morning. Showers makes me think it won't lie or not lie for long. I need to drop of my car for an MOT at the garage tomorrow. I might do that this evening before they close.
When I drove to work in the morning there was a mix of hail and sleet and there was slush on the ground.

We have power cuts at the slighest puff of wind.
Ours went off at 8.30pm last night and came back on at 1am.
Then off again 11am this morning and Eunice hasn't arrived yet.

We have no mobile signal and used to be able to use landline in a power cut but BT made us have a digital landline that doesn't work on power cut. Angry
However I made a fuss and they paid for a UPS which is essentially a big battery.
The bonus is we still have wifi, as long as it lasts.
DS works from home so may be stuck soon.
