Bit of a wild few days in store. The met office have named the storm on Weds/Thurs as Storm Dudley, so forecasts and impacts will go in this thread for those two days.

I'm about to start a separate thread for Storm Eunice which covers Fridays weather.

It seemed to calm down a bit earlier, blue skies for a short while. It’s ramping up again now, the bins are smashing against the wall again.

Newcastle
Really picked up again now.
Had quite nice few hours this afternoon.
Lights are starting to flicker.

I'm in rural East Cornwall. Power cut about half an hour ago, hoping to be back in by 8:30. Really annoying because our neighbours in the barn up the lane have power and we can see lights on across the valley!

I'm Whitley Bay. Rest of fence has come down (half came down in last storm) Been awake since early hours with it and we still have a long way to go..

Same…was expecting it to be awful earlier, glad it wasn’t on the nursery run. The wind is really loud now though, hope the Metros aren’t too badly affected this time.

I'm in Newcastle too, on the outskirts. We lost quite a few roof tiles during storm Malk. Got the roof fixed just a couple of weeks ago. Hoping we don't lose any more. Intending to get a new roof this year so hoping we can avoid any more expensive repairs before then. Was also woken up early this morning due to the winds. I really hate it when it is windy like this...

@BobbinHood I'd bet that Metros will be off from tonight and also tomorrow. Hope you don't rely on them to get to nursery.

Unfortunately I do - suspect you’re right and we might be getting our bikes out tomorrow! I know part of it’s off already but will keep my fingers crossed for the central corridor.

Lots of roof tiles came off here too. As did Mam and Dads TV Ariel. Totally outing, but your user name is a combination of mine and my Mams name.

Wind getting a bit wild here now in Cheshire and we're barely in the warning area 😳

Sorry to hear you had storm damage last time too RainbowZebraWarrior. It has been a terrible Winter for storms.

Report
Violetmo0n · 16/02/2022 20:27

Yep I've passed a lot of broken fences the past few weeks. Expect to see more in the morning.

Metros can't handle much, I doubt they'll make it through this 😫

All good here it's so intermittent, still one minute and crazy the next but not too bad yet although maybe not made it over to the east for the worst yet

Yes, sounding really windy here again. Not looking forward to tonight. I think there will be a lot of people not getting much sleep...

I’m in a fairly exposed position in South Worcs at the top of a very old house…the wind is quite something with gusts apparently from every direction.

Lost a fence panel here (SW) Have 3 gigantic trees in the back garden (which I love) so far had multiple branches falling, including one about the width of a football which came flying down while I was out taking dog for a wee on his lead (due to missing fence panel, don’t want him going into neighbours garden 🤦🏼‍♀️) Am really hoping Friday doesn’t bring a tree down, dread the damage that could do.

No drama here, I'm not sure how we are getting away with it because we are surrounded in every direction by areas getting it much worse.

NE coast here and it sounds horrific! Made worse this morning as it was grey bin day and most of them in the street had blown over, rubbish all over, then earlier this evening I opened the boot of my car and my bags for life flew out and are now blowing around someone's garden somewhere 🙈 roll on summer...

I have my power banks and lanterns charged. hoping I will not need them.

My train journey into London for the evening didn't happen. The over head power lines were down in two separate places. Just in time for all the commuters trying to get home.

The car park at my local station is usually empty at half eight, which is when I last saw it. It was two thirds full. Ugh. I missed a meal out with a mate, but it could have been worse.

It really has Lizs! It's been so still for such a long time that I think we've forgotten what windy weather sounds like though.
