Bit of a wild few days in store. The met office have named the storm on Weds/Thurs as Storm Dudley, so forecasts and impacts will go in this thread for those two days.

www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2022-02-17

I'm about to start a separate thread for Storm Eunice which covers Fridays weather.

Quiet here. Absolutely still. Birds chirping.

Feels like the calm before the storm

Lincolnshire area

Mid evening Patters Windy old day for you. Be reassured though, that it is a long way off Arwen levels.

So little change to Dudley as far as I can see. 60-70mph gusts widely across the amber region, perhaps reaching 80 mph for a brief time and a little higher over some exposed hill tops and coasts for a short time.

Expect some travel disruption, power cuts, trees down and a little damage to roofs etc. By midnight or so the worst will be over though windy into tomorrow still.

In the Yellow area expect gusts to around 40-60mph, slowly easing into tomorrow morning, before for some, Eunice arrives (see Eunice thread)

I'll be back at lunchtime to give another update.

Wind already picking up in Glasgow. Fun watching some of the high sided vehicles on the M8 this morning.

Patters4779 · 16/02/2022 08:42

Arwin was...fun 😬 I bloody hate the wind. Just had a new roof and lost bits of it November! Hopefully eunice will miss us.

Bobbobbobbing · 16/02/2022 09:16

Got my power banks charging as we speak. 8 days without power from Arwen has got me super cautious.

There's still trees down and roof damage round here from Arwen and Malik.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/02/2022 10:36

W MIDs and the first bins have gone down on ex's road. They were emptied this week so are not weighted down.

Netweather's views on Storm Dudley

Teaandsleep · 16/02/2022 11:05

I’m on east coast of Scotland. Very nervous, been around my house twice, battening down the hatches! Had roof damage from storm Arwen so fingers crossed nothing happens this time 🤞🏻

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 16/02/2022 11:11

Edge of the North York moors here, there have been some seriously strong gusts along with the bluster, just after 7am this morning my 6 foot back fence came down with a heck of a noise! And it's not a flimsy panel one- posts snapped at ground level.

Crowdfundingforcake · 16/02/2022 11:29

Scottish Borders here - it's died down considerably in the last hour - still very breezy but nothing like the howling gale we had at 4am.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/02/2022 11:51

Exactly same here on NE coast England Crowdfunding

LoveMySituation · 16/02/2022 12:21

Shropshire here. Getting very blowy, and our warning doesn't even start for a another hour. Next door's satellite dish contraption is making concerning noises. It was supposed to have been mended. Hope it stays up

FelicityPike · 16/02/2022 13:04

It’s hellish here in East Ayrshire.
The rain has been chucking it all morning and now the wind is beginning to pick up considerably.
Our warning is from 3.

Teaandsleep · 16/02/2022 13:55

There is no wind here whatsoever in East Scotland now…it’s quite eerie

Crowdfundingforcake · 16/02/2022 14:18

Gale back with a vengeance in SE Scotland - maybe we just experienced the 'eye of the storm' and now we're back into it again.

theqentity · 16/02/2022 14:19

Plenty of wind down here in the SE.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/02/2022 14:22

Good luck.

Dinoboymama · 16/02/2022 14:28

We are in Ayrshire they brought the amber warning in from 2 but it doesn't seem storm like at all. It was more windy over night and the morning. Hoping they had the forecast wrong.

Will see what happens later.

caranations · 16/02/2022 14:46

Started to get rather gusty and blustery down here in Bedfordshire around half an hour ago. We're only forecast around 40mph-ish though, from now until midnight, so I think we're right on the edge of it.

liveforsummer · 16/02/2022 15:10

Apparently the winds last night were just winds, not part of the storm the radar then showed a lull late morning and early afternoon before picking up again from around a lot now. Of course they don't always move to schedule so a bit of a wait and see still
liveforsummer · 16/02/2022 15:12

This will help to explain why it seemed windier last night. That wasn't Dudley, he's still on the way!

TeacupDrama · 16/02/2022 15:13

EezyOozy · 16/02/2022 15:14

East Berwickshire here; raining but not windy at all. Is Dudley yet to reach us ?

PeskyRooks · 16/02/2022 15:18

I thought we wouldn't see any of it here in South Wiltshire but there's some terrific gusts! Cats are too scared to go out the wind is howling!

Yes see my diagram below, he's due to hit the west coast from around 3 so a while for us on the east. The shape looks like it's going to be a long lasting one
