Bit of a wild few days in store. The met office have named the storm on Weds/Thurs as Storm Dudley, so forecasts and impacts will go in this thread for those two days.

I'm about to start a separate thread for Storm Eunice which covers Fridays weather.

I need to be in the NE tomorrow but will be leaving around 17:00. Slightly worried I need to cancel this now.

I would not choose to be travelling through the amber zone during peak gusts.

Will definitely stay in from four tho!

What would ye all think of ferry travel to Ireland Saturday am? Am a bit nervous to go home!

Thanks for the thread! I hate the winds, it really howls around my house. Hope the house that’s being built behind us secures all their materials tomorrow.

I feel like I'm neglecting you on this thread some. The extreme model solutions and uncertainty around Eunice are taking more spare time up.

I should point out though there is some overlap, where people in East Anglia and parts of the Midlands are covered by both storms warnings. This could be an extra issue as trees weakened from Dudley then are bought down by Eunice.

When do you think it'll hit the English east coast?

As the winds are going to ramp up and it's not the case that there's going to be a scenario where we have for instance an easy to time squall line, for the moment I'd probably stick to met office warning timings.

@OhYouBadBadKitten what do you think the winds will be like in he Glasgow area? I’m petrified of high winds

Report
OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/02/2022 22:25

I don't think you need to be too worried Whatadayyyy.

Ok, I'm off to bed now.
Get a good nights sleep people under this storm warning, tomorrow night could be quite lively.

given the tough time they had of it with power cuts for Arwen, I am charging up powerbanks and finding the flasks out for hot water.

I shall pop out to ex's garden and make sure everything is secure.

Ooof very blustery here in south yorkshire this morning. Think I won't ride dpony today and after a leg stretch while I get stable jobs done they can come in and have a duvet day.

The winds are terrible here in Ayrshire already. I am dreading the drive into Glasgow for work.

It’s really windy here in West Yorkshire already. I can hear the bins bashing against the side of the house.

Wasn’t expecting it until this afternoon so don’t think i’ll be taking the kids for a tramp around the Tarn this morning as planned!

Terrible in West Yorkshire. We are high up and it is actually quite scary.

Report
ListenLinda · 16/02/2022 07:19

It’s terrible isn’t it @AuntieMarys. I think i’ll be going as far as the post office. If it’s this bad now, I feel terrible for those in the Amber area later on.

I can definitely say don't come anywhere near us on NE coast England or anywhere in the Amber zone. I've barely slept. Even though the winds didn't start ramping up till 3am this morning. And the TV has just said Dudley isn't even actually with us yet. We've got it all day, night and tomorrow. Then a forecast for heavy snow on Friday. It's madness. Going to have to check on my Mum now as I know she is terrified.

We are travelling by train from Manchester to Sheffield this morning, and back this afternoon - not looking forward to it but it can't be put off. We are in the yellow zone and its blowing a hoolie.

Have prepared DD for the trains being off on the return journey.
