:)

First proper potential for the winter on Friday - if you live in the Peak district and parts of Scotland. Grin

I wouldn't worry yet Chenin.

No snow.
Back to cold though. The frost didn't melt in the shade today and it's -1C now and clear skies for this evening.
Def freezier Grin

cheninblanc · 29/11/2019 22:04

It is def colder! Love the sun being out today, no rain and it felt lovely!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 29/11/2019 23:35

Yep, definitely freezier, just let the dog out & it’s -2, she came back in quickly for once

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/11/2019 23:48

-2C here this morning (Leicester)

We'll be able to start the annual 'Will it snow at Christmas?' thread soon, OYBBK Grin
Long range forecast from the metoffice goes up 'til the 27th Dec.

4th-13th December
Much of England and Wales settled at first with areas of fog developing which will locally persist for much of the day on Wednesday and Thursday. Some bright or sunny spells are possible, particularly around coasts. Further northwest, increasingly unsettled conditions are expected to develop during Wednesday with wet and windy weather transferring slowly southeast through Thursday and Friday. Over the weekend and into the following week, the changeable theme is likely to persist with spells of more organised cloud, rain and stronger winds followed by some brighter, showery and colder interludes. The heaviest rainfall is likely across the northwest with snow over northern hills, possibly to lower levels at times. Temperatures are likely to remain at or slightly below normal with occasional milder interludes mainly in the south.

13th-27th December
Although confidence is low for this period, the unsettled conditions are expected to continue, bringing some rain with interludes of cold but bright weather alongside a risk of showers. There is a continued chance of further wintry showers on high ground in the north. Temperatures will likely tend towards average, or just above, for this time of year. Towards the end of 2019 there is a possibility that we will see a transition to some longer, more settled and colder periods.

That's true Gloria! Grin

I'm away from models this morning. Travelling through lots of frost, mist and some freezy fog. It's been a beautiful journey.

Still freezier, with a low of -5C. Went for a walk round Arthur's Seat this morning and found lots of needle ice, which is so pretty.
-2C now and everything outside us getting sparkling. Grin

I'm living these cold, sunny days and the frost sparkles like diamonds. It's so pretty. If we can't have a while Christmas then please can we have a hard frost instead so that everywhere is white and sparkly?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/11/2019 21:47

A quick glance tonight :)

Some snow showers are possible down the east coast for the next few days. GFS is still showing a lot of snow potential around the election. It's interestingly consistent.

They’re gorgeous aren’t they Bercow?! Nothing seems quite as awful when the sun’s out.

-3 tonight when I let the dog out & another cold sunny day forecast tomorrow.

cheninblanc · 01/12/2019 15:41

Is bitterly cold in South east today, been to a Christmas Market and my feet are like ice!!

rhubarbcrumbles · 01/12/2019 16:59

We've had the heating on all day today, we never do this normally but it's so cold. Having a chair in front of the only radiator in here probably doesn't make sense but it's a tiny room and there is nowhere else to put it.
Has anybody had snow yet? We had some just over a month ago but that was abroad on holiday so doesn't count, it was only on the tops of the mountains though.

Delatron · 01/12/2019 20:07

It will be interesting if it does snow around the election as that is when we had loads of snow a few years ago (I remember as it was DS birthday). Is this just for some areas of the country I guess?

I prefer the cold and sun to the awful rain we’ve been having .

Perihelion · 02/12/2019 07:47

Gone warmish in Edinburgh. 5C and raining. Sad
At least I didn't have to scrape the ice off the car earlier and it's not so cold for the thousands of people who have no gas in the Falkirk area.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2019 08:59

Sadly for snow lovers, there's little forming in the way of snow showers for this little spell of cold weather. Some over Scottish hills.

Election day still shows some real snow potential though. Confused

Really chilly school run this morning. Alexa told me -2°c, my garden thermometer was reading -4°c & dh’s van was saying agreeing with -4°c. Beautiful frost though. Dc4(4) is off to the farm today & is hoping Father Christmas can stop by to say hello Smile

Delatron · 02/12/2019 09:58

Thanks OYBBK. Where in the country do the charts show potential show for Election Day?

I love December snow. Not so much March snow!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2019 10:26

Over huge swathes of Wales, Scotland and central England. But each time I look the position changes. So at the moment, take it as there is potential there, but huge uncertainty.

I wonder what impact that will have? I mean obviously votes will be down but which voters are more determined? My money is on it helping the Tories because (sweeping generalisation alert!) of all the people with their middle class 4 wheel drives.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 02/12/2019 12:07

That made me chuckle rhubard but would, basically, be true for my constituency in South Warks.

My postal vote came last Thursday & was back in the postbox that day because otherwise I’d accidentally recycle it while doing my pre-Christmas declutter.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 02/12/2019 12:08

rhubarb

Perihelion · 02/12/2019 22:19

We're to go back to cold for election week. Aside from the weather, it's the lack of daylight, only 7 hours.
I don't think I've ever gone out to vote in the dark. Not that it would stop me. Even an extreme snow event is fine as I'm only a 3 minute walk away from the polling place.
