Snow watch Winter 2019/20

First proper potential for the winter on Friday - if you live in the Peak district and parts of Scotland.

Our local forecast has 1 snowflake for 6am, next Tuesday. I'm contemplating setting my alarm, just in case that's all we get. 🌨️

I would do, Justmuddlingalong, it might be your only chance of seeing snow this winter

Actually overnight Monday/into Tuesday, some of the higher areas of the country, especially in northern England/Scotland, could well see some wintry stuff. There might be something wintry at lower levels in those areas as well but think it'll be mostly rain for southern areas.

BBC weather has just said that we could see snow overnight on Sunday, could we?! 😬

The solitary snowflake which promised great things has disappeared. I'm too old to stamp my foot, but I'm stamping it anyway. 😤

Scotland/northern England could well see something wintry Sunday night/early Monday. For the south, there might be a hint of wintriness over high ground but otherwise, anything falling will be rain.

This winter sucks bigtime!

We have some forecast here Tuesday, in South Wales, we're about 500m up.

But just a few flakes would be lovely, not enough to actually stop us going anywhere mind ...

I've seen snow falling today ...
It was on the A9 at Drumochter, which is about 460m asl. Really very little snow on the hills though

Trying not to get excited, it's 1C and we've got a yellow warning covering Edinburgh for snow and ice.

Looking at the weather warning area and it's Sod's bloody law. Guess where the Muddling household is. 😠

The snow is on here now. Central Belt near Falkirk.

The GFS for mid-next week is looking 'interesting' - as in 'Winter 2019/20 might be about to get started', kind of 'interesting.'

North Staffs moors

Looks like Scotland and North of England could be getting snow tomorrow!

The car thermometer read 4.5 degrees 10 minutes ago, but there is a significant wind chill out there so it feels bitterly cold and well below zero. (Dublin, on seafront). Still quite a strong breeze (I grew up on Atlantic coast ) - the Dublin Bay buoys currently seeing wind 29knots gusting 46 knots, force 7 (near gale). And heavy, relatively low and mid grey cloud. So I really wouldn’t be surprised if there is snow here. Have packed an extra jumper in addition to the normal spare socks and pants in case I do have to stay an extra day on my trip (due home tomorrow night).
