:)

First proper potential for the winter on Friday - if you live in the Peak district and parts of Scotland. Grin

Twitter says colder next week!

Titsywoo · 10/01/2020 21:53

Exactly meglet - thanks OYBBK and Gloria, I'll take over from here Wink

cheninblanc · 10/01/2020 23:19

Titsywoo - I said the opposite! We would have a cold winter, I was very wrong...! I'm going with whatever you all say now lol

GloriaSmud · 11/01/2020 07:29

OK Titsy

OffTheShelfElf · 11/01/2020 20:16

AJ The Weatherman has a hunch of a big snow-dump on the south west at the end of the month. Fingers crossed it's more widespread than that if it happens...

flapjackfairy · 11/01/2020 20:21

I am fed up. It is only the promise of snow that keeps me going in January. But no hope of even a flame here in the Midlands. Just endless dreary rain !

hoochymamgu · 11/01/2020 20:55

Grin @ Titsy and her waters.

TokyoSushi · 12/01/2020 16:29

Do we/will we have a Storm Brendan thread @OhYouBadBadkitten and @Gloriasmud? Might distract us from the lack of snow! 😔

GloriaSmud · 12/01/2020 16:58

Here you go, @TokyoSushi!

TokyoSushi · 12/01/2020 17:01

Thanks!!

GloriaSmud · 12/01/2020 17:04

OffTheShelfElf - GFS keeps coming up with colder conditions from mid next week onwards, so perhaps all is not lost when it comes to something wintry. Maybe don't break up that sledge yet hoochymamgu!

megletthesecond · 13/01/2020 17:54

Daisies, daffodils and blossom in north Hampshire Confused.

Stayingstrong24 · 16/01/2020 13:20

I can't believe we've got to mid January without the hint of a snowflake.
I keep checking the local 14 day weather, but nothing as yet for our area. Don't know about other parts.

hellsbells99 · 16/01/2020 13:24

Don't forget winter is 22nd Dec to 20th March ….so plenty of time for some snow yet (hopefully)

Titsywoo · 16/01/2020 14:53

Weekend looks to be getting down to 0 degrees where I am in Surrey so we may actually get a frost or two! My bulbs are coming up but they always start to in January. The only downside is if we have snow in March they often get crushed as the daffs are a foot tall by then! I prefer snow in Jan or Feb for that reason.

cheninblanc · 16/01/2020 21:03

My phone won't let me start a new thread so apologies off topic but what does the high pressure mean? I know it means settled but I have seen reports of tvs not working? I don't really watch TV so not too bothered just wandering why..

Perihelion · 17/01/2020 19:34

www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/learn-about/weather/how-weather-works/high-and-low-pressure
Link for you Cheninblanc. TV reception gets bounced off the colder air sinking, so TVs get a double signal from 2 transmitters instead of one, muddling the picture.

Perihelion · 17/01/2020 20:16

Had a wee bit of frost at dawn today in Edinburgh.
With all the recent rain, I found my winter coat has stopped being waterproof, so have ordered a new one today. It better be cold for a while now....

TalesOfStepford · 18/01/2020 09:40

Proper frost here this morning is Wiltshire, a perfect bright yet cold winters day. Such a joy to see after weeks of rain and flooding around here. Still crossing fingers for snow!

cheninblanc · 19/01/2020 08:53

Perihelion thank you 😊.
Frost here today. Looks like winter!

beenrumbled · 19/01/2020 09:25

Foggy and frosty here in Manchester. Very atmospheric

Delatron · 21/01/2020 15:22

Beautiful here today. Local Facebook guy is saying there may be something wintry at the end of Jan. Fingers crossed. I’m over it by Feb and want spring!!

GloriaSmud · 22/01/2020 11:08

flouncyfanny - Grin I had a supply of fog ready for bagging this morning!

Delatron - after some rain passes through Sunday afternoon/evening, it's looking like it will be colder for a while so there might be something wintry, especially for the north/Scotland.
