:)

First proper potential for the winter on Friday - if you live in the Peak district and parts of Scotland. Grin

There was lightning and lots of rain last night. Driving through the surrey hills was fun... A31 Hogs Back the rain was more like sleet but no snow.

Sallycinnamum · 15/12/2019 12:27

We had biblical rain here on the london/Essex borders last night. It was literally hammering down on our Velux windows!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/12/2019 17:06

The rain caused a fair bit of flooding round here, with a number of roads closed.

Seems that parts of the Peak District have had a pretty good dumping of snow.

Some interesting convective activity in the south, lightning and hail.

If anyone witnesses damage from hail or high winds tonight please can you pm me.

The gritters are out in force in Scotland

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/12/2019 20:30

It's not going to get below 6/7c tonight in Essex, so it seems odd that gritters would be out.

Those blue lines are just where they would go if they were going.

rhubarbcrumbles · 18/12/2019 20:33

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/12/2019 20:34

Off-topic: In Hampshire, and probably other areas, some gritters have been named. My top 3 favourites are: Gritta Garbo, The Grittalo, Grittersaurus.

On-topic: Nothing but rain here, and temperatures comfortably above zero. And forecast for the next few days is much the same. There are occasional times when I'm thankful for not very "interesting" weather.

I hope everyone stays safe. It looks as though it's challenging conditions over a lot of the country at the moment and for the foreseeable future.

Try again....
Snow to the South of Edinburgh, in the Boarders today Grin

cheninblanc · 09/01/2020 18:50

Keep seeing dramatic headlines of promised snow but it was 11 degrees here today!

Titsywoo · 09/01/2020 21:40

In the autumn I said to DH that I thought the SE was going to have a mild wet winter again and looks like I'm right. I don't think we'll see any snow. No science involved here, I just feel it in my waters Grin

megletthesecond · 09/01/2020 23:17

Who needs weather satellites when we've got Titsys water Grin.

It does feel mild. Remember last February's "heatwave". Maybe we'll have a similar blip.

BlackeyedSusan · 10/01/2020 12:50

Was on the beach last February. (Pretty good given that we live about as far fro the beach as it is possible. )
