Badkittens and Gloria Will it snow at Christmas Thread

Just realised it's the 1st December!

It's a just for fun thread at this point as it's going to be highly inaccurate until we get much closer to the date.

Just a reminder that I'm only an amateur. I do this as a hobby. Please don't rely on my forecasts for decisions that matter - use the met office for those.

Also, I'm on my phone today without access to weather models, so it's a bit of a teaser start to the thread

We had snow, but only inside

We had a wonderful day at Whipsnade Zoo. Very misty to start with but that added to the ambience of watching the chimps galloping through it. Not too cold but we made sure we stopped for cups of tea on a regular basis then back home to open my presents 😀

Sudden Stratospheric Warming” is underway - could have important implications for the rest of the winter. Its effect will likely be seen in about 2-3 weeks - the potential for a significant winter weather across a large part of Europe is increasing

Does this mean snow and lots of it??

It depends on whether it propagates to the troposphere and where any split vortexes end up. Fingers crossed!
