Here is my weather karma, I'm always so excited about snow and pfft about fretting about it because, I suppose, it rarely happens here but right now it's coming down in bucket loads, we've got a yellow warning for ice tomorrow and I have an incredibly important medical appointment in Cardiff, which is over two hours drive away, in the morning. I've waited 15 months and gone through every hoop available to get this appointment with the surgeon as he's only one of two that do the op in the country. Well bugger! I'm not going in for any heroic measures to get there, if anything the wait to get this far has taught me patience but really, we NEVER have snow and I've been watching this weather system avidly since Gloria first mentioned SSW. Good job I've got a sense of humour Smile

gttia · 18/03/2018 22:04

Hope you get to your appointment kitten x

Our paths were already slippy at tea time, so were the minor roads we wandered across. The new snow is going to make them treacherous tomorrow morning. (North Hampshire).

youarenotkiddingme · 18/03/2018 22:17

Hants website already announcing late starts tomorrow. Looks like transport cancelled too. (Although no confirmation on that yet)

TheSassyAssassin · 18/03/2018 22:47

Had started to clear here but snowing hard now and all the bits that had melted now seem to be covered again....school run is not gonna be fun in the morn Confused

MrSlant · 18/03/2018 22:51

Oh no OYBBK I've just spotted you have an appointment tomorrow too! Good luck to both of us getting here. Damn you think we'd be organised for this at least.

I forgive it because it looks so pretty. Which is embarrassing because I'm quite a hard nosed sort! Well apart from last night's ultimate PFB moment but I was worried about the driving conditions ok?

BouleBaker · 18/03/2018 23:29

Southampton here. The snow that has come down over the past couple of hours has already half melted. Hoping for slush tomorrow.

ru345 · 19/03/2018 01:08

MrsSlant it's snowing lightly like chicken feathers in Cardiff about 1 cm of snow last 2 hrs. I think it will be ice will be the problem tomorrow morning. Sorry drive carefully.

SickofThomasTheTank · 19/03/2018 02:16

Our holiday to Haggerston Castle tomorrow has been cancelled by Haven 😢😭

SickofThomasTheTank · 19/03/2018 02:16

Stupid, stupid snow

Gertrudethestag · 19/03/2018 07:01

Well we had loads of snow last night Shock roads are an absolute mess

RoseAndRose · 19/03/2018 07:08

SickofThomas

Annoying, but there was a thread this weekend from someone whose similar holiday wan't cancelled, and they had a lovely time with not water/no loo as pipes froze, and the staff were tardy in providing bottled water (they ran out, before OP got any) and wouldn't open up any of the central facilities where they are loos, so over 12 hours without.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/03/2018 07:25

Once any early morning snow clears from the SW that should be it in terms of additional snow today and in general this week apart from a few northern hilly areas later this week.

Temps will rise today, slowly where there is snow cover, freezing again overnight but by tomorrow afternoon a full thaw should be underway apart from Scottish hills.

We are in south Devon, more heavy snow overnight and it's still snowing this morning, we've had almost 48hrs of continuous snow. It's now very deep with impassable roads.

TheSassyAssassin · 19/03/2018 07:37

Both schools in my village closed but the one my DD goes to is still open ....however physically driving her there isn't going to be easy! More snow and it has frozen and side roads are a mess Sad

Trailedanderror · 19/03/2018 08:35

All the best if you’re travelling today- what are your plans oybbk?
❄️💪🏼

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/03/2018 08:42

Sorry Gertrude I got that forecast wrong ~ thought you'd have snow showers but you've had loads (Angry at myself for getting it wrong)

GloriaSmud · 19/03/2018 08:52

BBC report here on the snow in the SW.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/03/2018 09:00

Don't be cross with your self. It's been really challenging. People who get paid get it wrong.

Bloody hell it's cold and very very icy here.

OP posts:
Gertrudethestag · 19/03/2018 09:20

gloria snow is totally unpredictable. Even the metoffice said there was more snow than they expected. Brew and the snow has thick ice on top. Eep.

Another forecaster said to watch out for snow towards Easter Weekend Shock but obviously it could change by then

GloriaSmud · 19/03/2018 09:34

Aw thank you both ~ I looked last night and wobbled between you (gertrude) having light and heavy snow. I obviously wobbled the wrong way but it sounds like the metoffice did too!

And you're right about Easter, TheWeatherOutlook mentions hints of wintry stuff returning here.
