It is and it's a bit further north than I was expecting.

IWantMyHatBack · 18/03/2018 18:40

Oh bollocks

Love the radar link. Will be watching that obsessively for the next 20 mins, its almost on us. Heavy bloody snow forecast for 17:00 - midnight 😖

coughingbean · 18/03/2018 18:58

blankie me too!

GloriaSmud · 18/03/2018 19:02

I think it might just reach us here (Leicester). Maybe get a dusting from it....

Gertrudethestag · 18/03/2018 19:08

gloria do you know if West Cornwall is due more snow tonight? Metoffice says no more snow and Accuweather says snow all night long with 2 flakes. Bit worried about the ice tomorrow

WreckTangled · 18/03/2018 19:13

Well the radar is showing it right above us but the met office is still saying it's going to get heavier later. The road and all of our footprints from earlier are covered already. I have to drive four miles to get to the main road and the DC's bus to school has to drive as many to get to us from the main roads...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 19:31

Tomorrow should be free from more snowfall, but any laying snow will be so clear for many after a cold night tonight. There is a significant risk of ice tomorrow, I'd stick to main roads where people can.

Gertrudethestag ~ you might get the odd snow shower but think ice will be the main problem overnight.

icantdothis2017 · 18/03/2018 19:47

Ooo Ice is what I worry about .
What's layed here has only layed on grass .
Roads and Pavements just wet.
Why is that ? It's -1 . Freezing outside

GloriaSmud · 18/03/2018 20:01

icantdothis2017 ~ I think it's to do with how roads/pavements absorb heat. At the moment, they aren't cold enough so any snow that falls on to them just melts. The cold spells we've had before have also included several days of cold temperatures beforehand, so the pavements were really cold already and the snow settled/stayed those times.

coughingbean · 18/03/2018 20:01

So it's coming down here thick and fast (north hants) according to the met office it will stop around 1am.

What's the likelihood of it staying until morning? Me and the DC so want a snow day!

GloriaSmud · 18/03/2018 20:02

And looking at the netweather radar, Leicester's snowshield has gone up on this occasion ~ so near and yet so far!

coughingbean · 18/03/2018 20:03

Forgot to say that it is sticking to roads and pavements atm.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 20:04

I think it will stick over night coughingbean.

Really heavy west Devon. Lots of schools closed. Roads are aweful.

gttia · 18/03/2018 20:24

Do you mind me asking what you think for Dartford area,I have nhs clinics and patients reliant on our district nurses. Thank you!

Thanks oybbk you and gloria are my hero's!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 20:32

It's really marginal there gttia. It looks like you'll have a bit more snow tonight, but overnight temperatures will probably hover around 0 overnight. So given we aren't in the depths of winter, I'm not sure how persistent any ice will be there.

I'm trying to work out whether I will get to my medical appointment tomorrow and whether it will happen. dh insists he has to drive cross country to a meeting and dd has to go to college. I hope that the council are better overnight than they were last night!

hoochymama1 · 18/03/2018 20:58

That's the whole thing really, I know it will warm up in the next few days but it's so crunchy out there now, and temperatures are so low tonight, it will really hang around. I have so much travelling to appointments tomorrow and I don't want to let people down Blush
Ho hum.
Hope you get to the gp kitten.
You and Gloria have helped us so much by having this thread, you have worked so hard crunching the data Thanks

youarenotkiddingme · 18/03/2018 21:01

We had snow overnight - surprised me as originally was just daytime yesterday!
Started melting today.

Left ds training at 7.45pm and quite a hairy journey home Shock

Forecast to keep going until 1am.

Is it likely to remain and cause problems for the morning commute?

South Hampshire

oldsilver · 18/03/2018 21:18

Well that's going to make tomorrow interesting...the snow melt has frozen to a glass like surface and now it's snowing again. Thank goodness my YakTraks are still out from tother week.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/03/2018 21:27

I think ice will be more of an issue here tomorrow morning.

coffeeagogo · 18/03/2018 21:28

DH is due to drive from London to near Exeter for an appointment tomorrow afternoon - would he be mad to attempt?? I am worried that it’s maddness
