Reports on local Facebook page are saying 3 to 4 ft snow drifts on some roads. I hope this is gone by tomorrow. DD can't afford yet another snow day.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 08:19

Awake a bit late due to constant checking the window through the night.

Good job this snow didn't fall overnight tonight! Our local council seemed entirely unprepared for this.

DH says the M42 is bad.

They are having a break at Warwick services (M40)

UrsulaPandress · 18/03/2018 08:23

Loads of bloody snow again here in Saddleworth. And my grips are in the car.

Cumberlover76 · 18/03/2018 08:23

We have a light dusting here on the western edge of Dartmoor. Beautiful blue sky, but the radar shows it coming in just before 11 and my forecast apps predict snowing heavily most of the day. We might get out for a play with DD in what we've got so far :) Luckily i bought an extra bottle of wine testerday so all good.

randomsabreuse · 18/03/2018 08:23

4 inches on garden table and bins. More drifts so suspect exposed Shropshire roads will be impassable by now!

FloatyFlo · 18/03/2018 08:25

What's expected for Cambridge today? Meant to be going to Science festival stuff but don't want to get stuck there? Never sure how reliable various weather websites are.

carleasehireargh · 18/03/2018 08:25

Thanks Gloria! Hope your tadpoles survive - maybe it's warmer under the layer of ice/snow? (Science clearly not one of my strengths...)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 08:26

Lunchtime today and this evening according to GFS, seems like a fair representation. I think roads will thaw out a little due to ground temperatures having warmed up recently, but in the south there is a little more to come to top it up. The SW do have some heavy snow still around.

What I find astonishing is the number of sporting fixtures that have only just been cancelled as people start travelling. Amber warnings are there for a reason. There are some places obviously who weren't in those amber areas though who have also had a good dump.

Thanks gloria I think I'm in the minority as I quite fancy a couple of proper snow days, not had any yet!

mrsdolittle · 18/03/2018 08:31

About 3 inches here in the Cotswolds. BBC website says more snow to come. Met Office says not! Either way rugby training cancelled 😀. DS hoping for yet another snow day tomorrow but am doubtful. Plus DD has final rehearsals for A level drama exam tomorrow so College NEEDS to be open.

Really bored of snow now ☹️

We’ve now got an amber warning for today. Had a couple of cm overnight (Surrey).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 08:34

Floaty Cambridge should have had the worst of it now.

CiderwithBuda · 18/03/2018 08:36

We have snow. Somerset. It’s supposed to be SPRING! Bah.

It doesn’t seem to be settling on driveway or patio but has on grass etc.

And I didn’t stock up on red wine......... might venture out later. Steak for dinner tonight and can’t have steak without a nice red.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 08:36

Morvah, I think you've had the warning since yesterday. That area got updated to remove eastern parts of the warning area. It finishes at 9am.

FloatyFlo · 18/03/2018 08:42

Thanks kitten

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 08:44

You're welcome Floaty :)

I knew this snow would catch people out Sassy, no one expects or believes it will happen at this point in the year.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/03/2018 08:48

Light bit of snow here but not on the roads. Forecast is for more snow and I'm not sure whether to go to work or not.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 08:49

Have a look at the warning areas map Rafa, if you are in the SW amber area I wouldn't.

Am def caught out OYBBK. They said it would hit but was gorgeous sunshine here at the end of yesterday despite v cold then looked out as I went to bed and it had started coming down and literally had one teabag left, no bread and not much else, so was up early today and it's a proper whiteout again. I was in my local shop just after 7am and there were a fair few of us trying to do a decent basket shop. Got enough stuff to last us for about 3 days so hopefully that'll do. The shelves were stripped last time and it took a couple of weeks to get back to normal! Shock All my spring bulbs were beginning to flower too...rats! Still sledging later! Wink

PestoSurfissimos · 18/03/2018 08:51

We had snow yesterday & then again overnight. Not a lot, but enough for a covering, including the road.

oldsilver · 18/03/2018 08:57

Bit snowy. First Bristol running except for country routes which are iffy including WsM.
