Today's Outlook from the metoffice from Thursday onwards. I'm noting the bits in bold ~ looks possible winter isn't done with us yet (although it's a few weeks away so might/will probably change.)

UK Outlook for Thursday 22 Mar 2018 to Saturday 31 Mar 2018:
After a clear frosty start across southern areas on Thursday, a band of cloud and rain will spread across all parts, followed by blustery showers, these heaviest in the northwest. Showers will die out on Friday as thicker cloud and rain spreads in from the west, becoming windy. While daytime temperatures will recover to around normal, for a time we may still see overnight frosts. By the weekend it will turn unsettled and rather cold across most parts with some prolonged outbreaks of rain, particularly in western areas. Low pressure is expected to be close to the UK by the start of Easter week, with a mixture of showers, more prolonged spells of rain and some snow likely in the north.

UK Outlook for Sunday 1 Apr 2018 to Sunday 15 Apr 2018:
There is significant uncertainty in the forecast throughout this period, but a blocked or slowly changing weather pattern is probable. There will most likely be a balance between Atlantic frontal systems affecting the south and west at times with colder air associated with high pressure out to the northeast. Mixed conditions are likely with wetter than average weather expected across the south, while staying drier and perhaps colder to the north. Further snow is possible, especially in the north. Windy conditions likely at times. Temperatures will likely be below average with further night frosts, and any milder interludes will probably be only brief.

Hey .
Can anyone else answer .
West Sussex coast .
Should we expect much more ?

icantdothis2017 · 18/03/2018 09:02

Is Monday set to be clear of no more snow falling ?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 09:04

Maybe a little more today Icantdothis. By tomorrow temps will be on the rise again for you and you shouldn't see any more for this bout.

There was a "caster sugar on a Victoria sponge" sprinkling in Dublin when I landed last night, roads clear. Snow shower as I drove home. Woke this morning to a 2-3 inch covering and it's blustery snow showers still.

DD's hostel trip with Scouts is off. I'm half expecting a text this morning suggesting a "snowed in" neighbourhood BBQ later. 😋

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/03/2018 09:09

I am, OYBBK. It's that amber warning that's making me think twice. What's currently on the ground isn't an issue.

Might venture out and take overnight stuff with me. If I get stuck then someone will offer to put me up. If it starts snowing hard I'll leave then.

MorvahRising · 18/03/2018 09:09

OYBBK oh yes, you’re right, it’s gone now!

DH, who has been outside, says 3 cm not 2. It seems to be thawing a bit though now, although the Met Office currently says we are due heavy snow tonight between 8 and 10. That might make it rather unpleasant for the rush hour tomorrow.

frogsoup · 18/03/2018 09:16

Cambridge has the merest dusting. There was a few cm or so yesterday evening but it's pretty much melted overnight.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 09:20

I think it could be pretty unpleasant first thing tomorrow with things freezing over.

Good plan Rafa.

Buddy a neighborhood bbq sounds like great fun!

Hasn’t stopped here since I got up at 6am, constant heavy snow, windy blizzard.

lubeybooby · 18/03/2018 09:26

Shropshire hills. We've got a buttload again - drifting heavily and further delays to the extension.

I might get to make some lemonade with these lemons though. Maybe this time I'll get to make my snowman! If the wind and subsequent windchill drops off a bit I might venture out.

CiderwithBuda · 18/03/2018 09:26

DH supposed to be being picked up at 4 tomorrow morning to drive to Heathrow for a flight. He is about to cancel.

I’m going to head out in a bit to get wine and milk. Ok for everything else.

Wanted to go shopping for paint later but will give that a miss.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/03/2018 09:48

My snow has gone. So that settles the work question I suppose. Hopefully any more that falls won't settle.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2018 09:49

I've just measured ours with a ruler. 4 inches. Blimey.

BestIsWest · 18/03/2018 09:57

Nothing here (Swansea) yet again but DD has reported a few inches In Cardiff.

BestIsWest · 18/03/2018 10:00

I remember snow at a wedding on March 25th one year. It caught us all out in our spring clothes.

notsomanky · 18/03/2018 10:06

The walk to work was exhausting!

The wind was dreadful, but the snow varied from almost none where the wind had scoured it clear, to knee deep in drifts. The wind was so strong it made catching my breath difficult, but at least the effort to breath and keep walking meant I wasn't cold!

DS1 football match is cancelled, as is his winter nets for cricket.

He had to abandon a football match he was refereeing yesterday too.

IsItOnTheTrolley · 18/03/2018 10:10

10cm here in Dorset, still snowing heavily, but flakes smaller.

AlexanderHamilton · 18/03/2018 10:19

They have arrived safely.

FreshTart · 18/03/2018 10:25

Decent covering of snow here on Cambrian coast at 6am but all melted now. DD's football match called off though so now stuck with no snow and fuck all to do. Fed up now, want Spring!

GloriaSmud · 18/03/2018 10:34

That's good news, Alexander

GloriaSmud · 18/03/2018 10:39

Our frozen pond. The patch at the front that you can see through, was rippling water at 6.45 this morning but it's now frozen solid. The white patches by the plants is frog spawn that the frogs produced last week when they thought Spring had arrived!
