Getting worried now.

PointlessUsername · 18/03/2018 02:17

It has been snowing most of today.
Not much has settled on the ground though.

SnowiestMountain · 18/03/2018 06:34

Just a dusting here to far in north Cheshire but absolutely freezing & windy, sky looks full of it!

AlexanderHamilton · 18/03/2018 06:44

DH & Dd Set off firlonfon half an hour ago have to admit I’m worried.

ButtertubsPass · 18/03/2018 06:55

Three inches in my bit of North Yorkshire overnight. I had planned a day at home anyway but still fed up of it!

How is everyone else doing today?

WreckTangled · 18/03/2018 06:55

We've got a couple of cm here thankfully nothing more.

hoochymama1 · 18/03/2018 06:55

Quite heavy in NE Derbyshire. It has drifted and is powdery. Poor DH has to try to get to work Hmm hope everyone is well and safe Smile

GloriaSmud · 18/03/2018 06:55

We got 3-5cms out of last nights snow here (Leicester) and there's the odd flake still falling. A chilly -1.1C

Alexander ~ where are they heading to (can't remember whether you've said before)

boldlygoingsomewhere · 18/03/2018 06:56

A fair chunk of snow overnight here on Surrey/Sussex border. It's already starting to melt though.

rainbowruthie · 18/03/2018 07:07

think we may have 'got away with it' this time, I am on top of the North Downs, just a covering here, nothing to cause any disruption

AlexanderHamilton · 18/03/2018 07:10

From Staffordshire to Chiswick. According to find my iPhone they are currently on the M6 by Hilton Park services.

AlexanderHamilton · 18/03/2018 07:13

Message from Dd - M6 was clear until Cannock. Passable with care.

soulrider · 18/03/2018 07:14

We've got about 5 inches in this part of the East Midlands, -2.2c. Heaviest snow of the year so far

BouleBaker · 18/03/2018 07:18

About 3 cm in Southampton. Unusual for us as the snow often goes round us for some reason. Looks like it will stop snowing around 10, is there any more to come do you think?

notsomanky · 18/03/2018 07:18

Snow in Manchester overnight. Probably a couple of inches, and it actually looks thicker than 2 weeks ago.

The walk to work will be interesting. I have a feeling lots of staff will be unable to get in so it is going to be bedlam for those of us that do.

whojamaflip · 18/03/2018 07:19

Just got to Leicester- roads at home had about 3 inches but a46 / m69 had been plowed and gritted so were clear. Snows stopped too 😊

GloriaSmud · 18/03/2018 07:22

Alexander ~ I was pointing posters asking about road conditions in the direction of this website yesterday (go on map layers and 'tick' traffic cameras) You can see what the motorways are like. At the moment it looks like a lot of them are OK with at least two lanes open but the outside lane looking 'iffy.'

AlexanderHamilton · 18/03/2018 07:29

I’m having issues zooming in with my phone on that website for some reason but I did go on & check the basics thanks.

carleasehireargh · 18/03/2018 07:41

I took a look at the map and thought "nope" to the look of snow on the M40 in various sections, even though there's usually a lane or two that looks okay.

I've driven on slow sludgy roads before and it's always terrifying with people who drive like idiots around you. Plus the connecting roads nearest us are covered in red and yellow for delays anyway so getting there, it would have made the journey so long and difficult and exhausting for me.

But now I'm really hoping I haven't just been a complete wimp and cancelled for no reason!

Quite a bit here in Leicestershire overnight, are we likely to get any more today do you think gloria or is that it now? Bbc weather is saying further snow here today but all others saying not 🤔

applelolly · 18/03/2018 08:01

bugger, bugger bugger!
I DONT want more snow!
Snow in November/Decemeber/ Jan....fine. Snow in March ....NO!!
A LOT of snow here in South Yorkshire, night out last night (one of about 3 a year!) was cut short and roads coming home were horrendous. Today we have to : Get dd1 to local theatre for super important set up day for her show that opens next week, take dd3 to school for full day rehearsal for her school show (also next week.) and collect DS1 from Uni in Cambridge.....Im suspecting some re-arranging.
So, so so fed up now.
IT IS SPRING! I'm doing an Easter egg hunt the week after next Shock

applelolly · 18/03/2018 08:03

Anyone down round Cambridge way? What is it like there? DS needs collecting from Emma College in city centre.....

youarenotkiddingme · 18/03/2018 08:05

It was snowing on and off yesterday.
Expected it to stop at bedtime.

Woke up to this!

carlease ~ I've just been looking at the roads and I think the W. Mids have had quite a lot ~ the M5 looks awful. The eastern side of Birmingham isn't too bad but there's lots of 'slushy' outside lanes. All it takes is one idiot trying to overtake in that slush and making a mistake and then you're looking at accidents. So don't feel a wimp!

Everybodylovesablankie ~ I think there might be the odd flurry for us. What we've got isn't going to melt much/at all though. 'High' of 0 today!

My pond, which did have a small, washing up bowl size gap in the layer of ice on it when I got up at 6.30, now has no gap at all.
