Usual disclaimer - Gloria and I are amateurs, fitting this in round our home and work lives. We do our best, we sometimes get things wrong! Please don't make important decisions based on what we say, always refer to the met office website first.

Snowing hard in Kent now.

Seriously concerned about my DP who insisted on going to work in Tonbridge via 3 trains as first week in a new job and desperate not to lose it. He is driving a HGV.

I am trying very hard to pull my big girl pants up and not cry Sad

UrsulaPandress · 02/03/2018 14:57

Has he got his overnight gear with him?

It can be very snug in an HGV.

mocha70 · 02/03/2018 14:57

Could anyone give me an update on road conditions round Leatherhead and Oxshott as I'm trying to decide whether to cancel a journey I was planning to do there in an hour's time.

Do2Little · 02/03/2018 15:01

There are some amazing photos of the freezing rain on this Met Office site.

To be honest Ursula I don't know what he's got with him. This is a complete change of career for him. He's a carpenter and joiner by trade, he only passed his HGV test just before Christmas.

He won't be left to freeze on the streets as the canteen at the depot place is open 24 hours a day. I think I just need to grow a pair :)

No snow or ice here, just bitterly cold wind

pigsinmud · 02/03/2018 15:12

mocha I live on a main road near Dorking and snow is covering road. As schools are shut there aren't many cars around to clear the road Having said that traffic is moving.

Snowing hard here now. The bird food I put out is completely covered now but the wagtail is still managing to pick it out.

DD has cancelled her work tonight - she's a washer upper in a pub but we've decided it's not worth the journey for £20.00 but at least her football match tomorrow has been cancelled.

Tips of my fingers after being outside for 8 minutes Shock

mocha70 · 02/03/2018 15:24

thanks schilke - the road I'm worried about is the one up from the A24 Texaco roundabout towards the M25 near Leatherhead.. and coming back down it around 6pm..

Heavy snow in SW London
Whoop!

Been sledging this am. Will go out for a snowball fight and snowman when the DC have finished watching their movie.
It’s been such a lovely day.

Hope everyone travelling gets home safe and warm tonight.

summersgoneaway · 02/03/2018 15:33

Heavy snow here since 1pm
Can't get into work tonite
Still windy

mrsglowglow · 02/03/2018 15:34

Heavy snow in outer NW London for the past hour and no sign of stopping yet. The main roads have been OK so far but side roads were already treacherous before this latest lot. Kids are off today and we don't need to go anywhere but my husband will be driving home from Slough this evening. Hope it eases off by then. I saw horrendous video showing how that pileup on the m62 happened. I couldn't believe the speeds they were going at in zero disability! I never want to be on a motorway in poor weather.

YearOfYouRemember · 02/03/2018 15:34

Back from walking the dog. Lots of snow coming now and still my dh won't come home. Sent him a firm message.

mrsglowglow · 02/03/2018 15:35

oof autocorrect - that should say visability!

TopBitchoftheWitches · 02/03/2018 15:37

Light snowing in North Essex again.

NoStraightEdges · 02/03/2018 15:39

It's snowing heavily here in south Birmingham-not like yesterday's strange dry snow. Proper big fat flakes of settling snow.

frazzled3ds · 02/03/2018 15:40

The persistent but light snow we were having half an hour ago has just got rather heavier with some proper big flakes in it too! Gritting lorries are struggling to keep up I think (not helped by one of them crashing earlier today....)

whojamaflip · 02/03/2018 15:45

Heavy snow again now - had around 3 cm since lunch and it's still coming down hard. Dh is still out with the snow plough but think he's close to giving up as he's fighting a losing battle Sad

GloriaSmud · 02/03/2018 15:47

Light snow beginning to fall here (Leicester)
Plenty of snow reports coming in here.

GloriaSmud · 02/03/2018 15:52

whojamaflip ~ those look awful conditions. I'm sure your DH's done his best for today.

FrankiesKnuckle · 02/03/2018 16:04

@mrsglowglow That video is not from the Uk. They're driving on the wrong side of the road for a start.

Mummylin · 02/03/2018 16:10

Gloria my dh is praying that Leicester dosent get lots of snow, he and my brothers are coming up there to watch the footi tomorrow !
