Looks like snow here south east thurs and fri

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2018 13:47

around central southern areas close to the coast icant. So yes, possibly for your area.

Freezing rain happens when warm air over rides very cold air, so that snow melts as it falls, but then remains as a liquid (sometimes supercooled) then hits surfaces that are subzero. It then freezes as a glaze.

It's too early to say it will definitely happen, or even probably happen, but because it's so nasty I feel justified in saying that it exists in some of the models.

Hot toddies sound like a very good idea
Has anyone ever tried hot chocolate with gin?

explodingkittens · 26/02/2018 13:52

It's coming down again in S. London/Surrey. Smaller flakes than earlier though and the sky is still fairly bright.

@thesnowdreamer on twitter seems to think that the forecasts have been vastly underestimated...

ClosDesMouches · 26/02/2018 13:54

I can report a few flakes here. It's not going to amount to anything.

Riverside2 · 26/02/2018 13:55

the only time glaze is acceptable is on a Krispy Kreme.

I will have to try to alert my parents to whatever window there is before Friday, to stock up. They always tell me they've stocked up and it turns out that means there's one loaf in the freezer.

Cerrocoandblack · 26/02/2018 13:57

All ours has melted Sad

Any more for Essex?!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2018 13:58

More snow for Essex? We're yet to get more than a speckle here in my part of Essex.
I have two very disappointed cats who are running outside every time a flake falls only to come in all forlorn. They love the snow!

MrPan · 26/02/2018 14:14

Am in Moss Side manky. No snow. It's reserved for Tameside.

SnowiestMountain · 26/02/2018 14:15

Ooh a good proper snow shower here now in Cheshire!

BlackeyedSusan · 26/02/2018 14:19

forecast snow for 2ish, then it disappeared rom the forecast, but it has jsut snowed and checking it is back as snowing now.

our certain snow at 9pm has disappeared again. ah well.

notsomanky · 26/02/2018 14:21

OYBBK [Grin]

Pan although I am in Tameside, I'm also on the border of Manchester/Stockport - 5 - 10 minutes drive from Levenshulme, less as the crow flies.

It really is just showers though.

TerfsUp · 26/02/2018 14:26

Just started snowing here in the west midlands.

MrPan · 26/02/2018 14:32

Ah manky - am at work in Moss Side and shortly driving home to Glossop.

Am supposed to go to Preston on Wednsday and really really hoping for a weather-based excuse to not go.....but this is unlikely!

JillJ72 · 26/02/2018 14:36

North Bucks reporting in for OYBBK and Gloria duty:

-5°C on the shed at 0710h. My chickens were a bit confused because I put some old curtains over their house, so they weren't convinced it was daytime!

Bit of a wind blowing and it is very cold. It's also very dry so we had no frost or ice first thing, but the static is electric, pah. Hate getting electric shocks and my hair is flying around a lot.

It's now turning a bit cloudy so I don't know if we eventually see some snow. Shopping done so we're good to go.

notsomanky · 26/02/2018 14:47

Glorious sunshine again!

tapdancingmum · 26/02/2018 14:55

I'm in Bucks as well and have had electric shocks all morning. Can I really blame the weather for this. We have just turned our pond pump off and the pond has frozen over. First time this winter! The Guinea Pigs have so many layers on their cage in the shed and are, hopefully, warm enough. Lots of people on Facebook last night looking for indoor cages - nothing like leaving it late...... Princes Risborough seems to have had more snow than I have and I'm on top of the hill where we normally get snowed in. Had a few flurries but the sun is shining now. The temperature in the car had risen by 4 degrees at lunchtime to 1 Grin DH went out this morning and picked up some more milk and bread but we were down anyway and I've just sent him to Morrison's to pick up some steaks for dinner later in the week.

skulduggeryintheshrubbery · 26/02/2018 14:57

urgent snow update

10 flakes of snow have fallen in the Kent area. Time to start stockpiling tins and get the crampons out. Grin

hoochymama1 · 26/02/2018 15:07

Wow met office update I am now in an amber bit for Tuesday Shock

hoochymama1 · 26/02/2018 15:12

Feel prepared however, bought two more breads and a bit more milk. Just took the dog out, sunny but really face numbingly cold. No snow. Just predictions of snow.

tapdancingmum · 26/02/2018 15:46

My phone keeps 'popping' with emails from the Met Office with the updates. They still keep saying we won't get anything of significance until 0005 tomorrow morning to 2355 tomorrow night. Beautiful blue skies here at the moment but so so cold. Lots of these Brew on the go.

Petalflowers · 26/02/2018 15:53

The met office site is down at the moment.
