I live near Nottingham, it keeps coming down heavy but then not settling. I have to catch a train later on in the week as am then getting the eurostar, and a bit worried about possible cancellations..

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2018 11:32

SeaLions I think it likely that you will see some snow tomorrow, but I wouldn't commit myself to how much. As you can see today, its very hard to predict. Where I am in central southern England it really hasn't stopped snowing all day so far even though it isn't accumulating. Yesterday the models weren't showing anything for us.

Hey Skullduggery!
I have (not so distant Blush) memories of using bits of an old sofa to sledge down hills in Landport!
It's snowing again, but still not close to settling.
I'm getting nervous about the trains not running-we live in Newhaven, but the kids are at school in Lewes.
Let me know when you all think I can just give the kids a day off to avoid transport issues!

MrSlant · 26/02/2018 11:33

Today I learned that whippets + black ice over sand = hilarious but probably not very sensible walkies Grin.

I brought them home before they broke a leg each.

skulduggeryintheshrubbery · 26/02/2018 11:43

@itsazoohere old sofa Grin

For anyone waiting for the trains to come to a standstill I think what you're waiting for is the wrong kind of snow. The powdery stuff that brings the whole network to a grinding halt. 10 flakes ought to do it for the Newhaven-Lewes line...

GrouchyKiwi · 26/02/2018 11:50

We're in East Lothian and not meant to get snow till late tonight. But there have been a few tiny flurries of tiny flakes this morning already. The children are excited.

CarpeVitam · 26/02/2018 11:52

Snow flurries here in West Yorkshire Smile

MorvahRising · 26/02/2018 11:53

Ah, the Met Office website is back up.

ClosDesMouches · 26/02/2018 12:01

I've just posted on the wrong thread, I intended to post here.

In south Cheshire. No snow here but the wind is cold. I'm wondering if we're likely to get much tomorrow?

Riverside2 · 26/02/2018 12:03

Accuweather says it will stop snowing here in 24 mins.

interesting, because it hasn't snowed.

No idea what's going on!

ClosDesMouches · 26/02/2018 12:03

oops, just read that there's a new thread. I'm making an utter balls up of getting this post in the right place!

ClosDesMouches · 26/02/2018 12:04

Riverside Accuweather said similar for me earlier this morning. It hasn't snowed here either.

Riverside2 · 26/02/2018 12:10

Clos, how funny! not complaining, don't want snow at all. Just an odd update to see Grin

ClosDesMouches · 26/02/2018 12:16

I don't want it either! Especially not tomorrow.
I've just looked at Accuweather again, still haven't seen a single flake, and it says it will stop snowing in 23 minutes. Confused

icantdothis2017 · 26/02/2018 12:25

Few flakes here in worthing west Sussex .
Lasted 5-10 minutes

SnowiestMountain · 26/02/2018 12:28

Waves at Clos we've had about 3 x short flurries here (near Warrington) but it's getting darker and the sky greyer so here's hoping!

BiddyPop · 26/02/2018 12:39

It was still 6 degree and sunny, with high clouds starting to come in from the east, in Dublin this morning. Wind was also easterly, with lots of white horses on the waves, as the train went into town.

DH's plane was delayed by an hour going to London - he's getting train to Birmingham tonight, and flying home to Dublin tomorrow night. All going well. (And if not, he has a spare outfit in his bag, and will train/ferry his way home tomorrow/Wednesday instead - he's done that before!).

Meanwhile, I am contemplating either
a) How to wear a smart business dress under ski gear to a dinner Wednesday night, or
b) Forget about the dinner and send my regrets now.
I'll probably be in town anyway as we're mad busy and I am least likely to be travel-disrupted (my boss will almost definitely not turn up!), but I am shattered and would quite happily use the excuse of weather for a few days annual leave.

I also, stupidly, forgot to put on my hiking boots for commuting - so I hope that the snow doesn't start until I get home tonight now. As my regular flat shoes don't have great grip. It's regular gear today, until heavier stuff is needed maybe tomorrow.

SeaLionsOnMyShirt · 26/02/2018 12:40

Thank you OYBBK!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2018 12:46

weather apps and weather sites that use automated output can be really rubbish in these circumstances . I wouldn't rely on them this week.

Clos sorry, that's my fault, the thread got super busy just as I was heading out and I didn't want everyone to get lost.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2018 12:49

Looking at the radar there's a lot of snow flurries and perhaps heavier bursts of snow right across the south for the rest of the afternoon. Looks generally quieter over the midlands and further north for the time being.

Jenasaurus · 26/02/2018 12:52

icantdothis2017 · 26/02/2018 12:53
