Not been much in the news about it yet, other than a few small articles. Anyone else notice it's due to be getting very close to the UK?

Looks like it's still meant to be hurricane strength when it hits Ireland early next week, before taking a swipe at Scotland. I thought the water was meant to be too cold and they normally fizzle out into winter storms.

First British hurricane since Debbie in 1961?

Fastnet recorded a gust of 109mph. Granted it’s very isolated, but still!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/10/2017 13:19

Fairy yes it was.

NeverTrustASmilingCat · 16/10/2017 13:25

Here in the south-east of England it was warm and sunny a couple of hours ago, now it’s white clouds with a warm glow. Trying to work out if it’s going to rain.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/10/2017 13:31

It’s not supposed to Never, but it seems hard to believe it won’t.

updated warnings to extend the amber area.

Maudlinmaud · 16/10/2017 13:34

Just skyped family in kerry. They think they are over the worst of it and sky's are blue now. They reported it wasn't too bad.
I'm nervously excited.

letmepeeinpeace · 16/10/2017 13:34

mrsquagmire I'm in Staffordshire too. It feels quite eerie to me

AllToadsLeadToHome · 16/10/2017 13:35

Hot, humid and windy in NW London, the sky has gone from bright and sunny this morning to grey with a yellow tinge. We are quite high here so get more of the wind than most.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/10/2017 13:39

Maudlin they will still have a few hours of 50-60mph winds left.

Igneococcus · 16/10/2017 13:42

The wind is now getting up here in Argyll too, it's been fairly calm until a few minutes ago.

Interesting video from the top of a tall building in Bristol - really shows what the sky was like.

riseandfall · 16/10/2017 13:45

The colour of the sky is quite extraordinary.

RhinosDontEatOatcakes · 16/10/2017 13:49

Has anyone ever seen the YouTube spoof of the very sweary Irish weather forecaster? I'd love to hear his forecast today.

CollieBobs · 16/10/2017 13:51

It may be my imagination but it seems to be easing in Cornwall now. Could definitely be my imagination though. I'm a bit worried about the weather later this week Blush

hollyisalovelyname · 16/10/2017 13:51

Idiot windsurfers had to be rescued off Louth.
If you want to put your own life at risk, fine, but please don't put the gallant men and woman of the RNLI and Coastguard Services lives at risk.
I'd leave them ( windsurfers) out there.

DartmoorDoughnut · 16/10/2017 13:57

Pretty blowy up on Dartmoor still

mrsquagmire · 16/10/2017 13:57

letmepee, we have sunshine now! The sun seems to have gone back to normal colour. A bit breezy. Strangely, the Met weather warnings say I'm ok, but the town four miles to the west has an amber warning. I suppose the warnings have to finish somewhere.

PigletJohn · 16/10/2017 14:06

mid south coast here. getting darker and darker, and the light seems yellowish. wind is light, no rain since about 9.

GloriaSmud · 16/10/2017 14:09

Have just come back after a trip to Sidmouth - was rather blowy but not too bad. Sea was impressive though, with foam blowing up on to the beach. Has got quite gusty now we're back in the last 15 minutes or so - the caravan is creaking a bit!

NeverTrustASmilingCat · 16/10/2017 14:11

Sun looks strangely orange now. Took a picture but it doesn’t show the colour.

drinkswineoutofamug · 16/10/2017 14:20

Blue skies now here in Cheshire. Sun is shining and pegged my washing out. Good day for getting the sheets done

PavoReal · 16/10/2017 14:29

West Sussex - it's a very weird apocalyptic dark grey. Still very warm. Never seen it so dark mid afternoon. Not such much as a breeze.

Maudlinmaud · 16/10/2017 14:29

kitten really she said it went really calm. Her car moved earlier with the handbrake on, really scared her. I had to bite my tongue from calling her a mad thing Grin

NapQueen · 16/10/2017 14:30

Newcastle abd its been very very dark the last two hours. Two claps of thunder but stopped now. No rain, not much wind.

CollieBobs · 16/10/2017 14:30

I take it back about winds easing in Cornwall Blush

mummypleeeaaaasseeee · 16/10/2017 14:35
