Will Hurricane Ophelia manage to hit the UK?

Not been much in the news about it yet, other than a few small articles. Anyone else notice it's due to be getting very close to the UK?

Looks like it's still meant to be hurricane strength when it hits Ireland early next week, before taking a swipe at Scotland. I thought the water was meant to be too cold and they normally fizzle out into winter storms.

First British hurricane since Debbie in 1961?

It’s going to be a wild night for those in NI and then into Scotland.

I notice on twitter all the Irish people are getting hacked off with the English sending pics of their red skies when they have roofs blowing off.
I kind of don’t blame them, but honestly it’s been quite weird!

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-41639386 it seems the smoke smell was enough to ground flights as a precautionary measure.

Western Scotland here, we're pretty high up too. It's getting blowy now. Waiting for DH to come home so we can get everything in the garden tied down or removed. Got a log burner so we can heat things up if the power goes off. I'm feart though!

Funny kitten, all I've seen in Irish groups I'm on is them taking the piss out of Ophelia, I'm not on twitter anymore though.

It is awful about the fatalities, I hope there are no more.

How bad is it expected to be on the west coast of Scotland? DD is in the Outer Hebrides at the moment, will it pass lower than that?

It shouldn’t be too bad there Cocoa.

Tell me about it. I don’t normally get bothered by weather but the trees in the garden look close to going and the roof sounds like it’s going to come off.

And it looks like we are just getting in to it. From this map we are getting the full brunt

oh cripes Yeeeha, you guys are used to bad weather, so if you say it’s bad it must be really bad. Yes, you are in an unfortunate position. How secure is your energy supply?

very windy here in the west, it was warm and blue skies and sunshine but incredible sudden strong gusts rendering my tennis game impossible to play, given up and come home.

Our lines are underground so hopefully will be ok.

We have beer, wine and crisps.

Can’t see the kids sleeping much. Someone’s shed bounced off the patio door and has scared the shit out of them.

68MPH gusts at Port Erin, IoM at the moment. I'm glad I'm not on that headland right now - I used to love walking up there.
Fingers crossed for everybody over there/people still affected by the storm.
