Early early days and the models have been teasing us for a good couple of weeks now but we might be starting to get some model consistency. I've been holding off from saying anything in case we scare it away for good.

Massive caveat - amateur forecaster, often get it wrong yadda yadda. Please dont plan anything based on this thread.

GFS starts to show the european high pressure drift atlantic-wards next week, drawing in cold air. By next weekend we are showing a reasonable amount of potential with the upper air looking cold enough to support snow and less settled weather than at present.

Alas though, it only seems to last the weekend at present. But at the moment Friday is the day to keep your eye on.

Bright sunshine here, cold and windy but not a single snowflake to be seen. I am so disappointed . I envy all of you with snow

Hulababy · 13/01/2017 12:23

Had snow this morning til about 8am. Bright skies now and it's all disappeared at school.

LIZS · 13/01/2017 12:27

Bright and sunny now.

SideOrderofSprouts · 13/01/2017 12:43

PointlessUsername · 13/01/2017 12:49

Had a little snow again around 10am which didnt settle and just left the ground wet.

Im guessing thats it for us in London for now. Sad

Aki23 · 13/01/2017 13:51

bright sunshine here, had sleet last night - Hampshire

MegBusset · 13/01/2017 15:13

A good inch or so settled in Norfolk... Then it turned to rain around lunchtime and has all disappeared now :(

Ilikesweetpeas · 13/01/2017 19:52

OhYouBadBadKitten
I'm impressed with your forecasting skills! Do you think we may be in for any more snow? I'm in the north west, near Wigan and we have NONE. I'm hoping that maybe next week we'll be lucky! I see that the temps are falling again so wondered if that was a good sign... (crosses fingers and does a snow dance!!)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/01/2017 21:26

not this weekend, sorry sweet peas. Lots of rain on sunday. There may be a chance next weekend, but at the moment it's looking like a very dry cold perhaps with snow showers in the east. Small scale weather features might pop up at short notice. It's all a bit up in the air though.

Met office have just slapped a snow warning on us, starting from 4pm.

hoochymama1 · 14/01/2017 13:29

Are they just playing with our feelings Angry? Huh, I just don't believe them any more Sad

PointlessUsername · 14/01/2017 13:38

Not holding my breath either hoochy

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/01/2017 13:40

I'll be honest, wasn't expecting that! just a few wintry showers!

OP posts:
DameDeDoubtance · 14/01/2017 14:11

That's what I thought Kitten, a few wintry showers skirting down the east cost. What are they talking about?

Titsywoo · 14/01/2017 15:53

We had a random sleet/snow shower at midday here in Surrey which wasn't forecast and now metoffice is saying sleet instead of rain tomorrow but has a weather warning for snow and ice so not sure what to expect!

BishopBrennansArse · 14/01/2017 17:11

Yep we're in UKMO yellow snow/ice warning area and unsure why...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/01/2017 18:32

ok, I've had chance to look at it. It's tomorrow's rain, arriving this evening and bumping into cold air in the east. It's marginal, it won't last long before it warms up and I suspect many may sleep through it! But some temporary accumulations are possible.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/01/2017 18:34

most likely to happen in the early hours of tomorrow.

Tomorrow itself looks disgusting!

hoochymama1 · 14/01/2017 18:56

Ho hum, but the winter isn't over yet

DameDeDoubtance · 14/01/2017 19:33

Bugger, I want more of the white stuff!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/01/2017 09:23

Looking ahead to next weekend. Although it looks as though it will turn cold again, at the moment I can't see too many possibilities for snow. Anything that does pop up will likely be a short notice small scale event I think.
