Tromso ~ reliably lovely as usual!
There's been a sunspot that's erupted, so chance of more aurora later in the week.
Am also waiting for Abisko to return

Excellent. I had an aurora alert from the Lancaster Uni service today, but only moderate strength.

GloriaSmud · 11/11/2015 18:51

Tromso once again again doing its thing!
And more excitement in the form of a CME due tonight.

Shame it's so wet and cloudy on most of the European cameras tonight.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 11/11/2015 22:41

I've been on high alert for the past three weeks....lots of sunspot action, but uncooperative clouds and weather

...am NE Scotland and always on the look out!!

ABISKO IS LIVE AGAIN!!!!!! (Though more grainy than last year - boo to the poorer resolution.)

What a great start at Abisko!

Yay ~ Abisko's back!

I've looked at the daytime footage, Gloria, and I think the resolution is just fine if there is plenty of light - it's only smudgy when it's overcast and dull. On the basis of today's daylight pics, I think we'll get some lovely shots this winter when the lights are bright and busy.

GloriaSmud · 16/11/2015 20:52

Abisko seems to be having problems ~ 'tis all black at the moment!
Tromso is looking lovely though.

Yep, it died mid evening - not long after I pointed all the Northern Lights threadpeople towards it (and this thread).

RomComPhooey · 17/11/2015 19:05

It's still dead. Sad

RomComPhooey · 18/11/2015 22:12

And it's back!

Definitely a rippling curtain of lights at Thingvellir just now, but the resolution is so sketchy I won't bother posting a picture.

pearlgirl · 18/11/2015 23:58

I've been watching the lights at Thingvellir on the webcam this evening - we will be just south of where the webcam is later in the year and I am very hopeful that we may be lucky this time. I was in Reykjavik in October and two days after I left there were the most amazing displays over the city - there are pics on the Icelandmonitor site and I was very miffed that I had missed them.

ooh good grief it actually posted...this is The Blob that appeared for about 4 minutes back at the beginning of October, mobile phone pic, out of my bedroom window. Clearly visible to the naked eye too!

I shall try and post a better one from this Wednesday, but don't hold your breath, my phone, MN and pic tend not to get on!

Excellent stuff Tondelayo!

I note it is sporadically clear and very starry at Abisko - fingers crossed for some action over the w/e. I had a low key alert for UK from Lancs Uni, so we may be in luck.

RomComPhooey · 20/11/2015 21:44

Sorry, I turned you masculine Tondelaya.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 20/11/2015 21:49

oh, I am on a roll now, if you ignore the double posting! Had no idea this was happening until I went out to collect dh from the station at 11pm and thought the sky looked a bit iffy...

stopped to take a few pics and then was late for dh, and this one was taken with my phone balanced on a dodgy sign post, which is why the stars are lines....it was only a 14s exp so they're not real star trails.

Also green and red visible to the naked eye and lovely spiking pillars.

RomComPhooey · 20/11/2015 22:01

You jammy mare! How far north are you?
