There is a volcano thread waiting to be 'bumped' for when something happens. Jonfr in his latest post mentions an increase in activity.

Despite there not being much in the way of solar activity, this is the fabness from Tromso at the moment!

Thanks Gloria. (And a quick mention of how fab it is to have all the links in the OP - very easy to get to the right sites on my iPhone.)

GloriaSmud · 05/10/2015 21:09

I didn't know whether it would be worth posting them all again, sort of mid-thread when it's half way through the season - might save having to scroll to the top sometimes.

Tromso seems to be centre of all the action tonight!

I'm reading on my phone & my MN settings are set to only show something like 25 posts to a page so it's no biggy for me to scroll back up to the OP at the top because there's a link on every page on my phone & it's always there on my PC.

RomComPhooey · 05/10/2015 21:14

By the way, Tromso's looking great just now.

GloriaSmud · 06/10/2015 11:17

Perhaps I'll leave it then ~ it does take a little while to do, checking all the links work and everything!

Busy, busy tonight. Apols for the crap pics - I'm on my phone.

Just makes Abisko's absence all the more frustrating. Angry

RomComPhooey · 07/10/2015 18:48

Lends a hand.

Worth a look out tonight if you get a clear spell

RomComPhooey · 07/10/2015 18:57

Too far south here, too much light pollution. Bah humbug!!

GloriaSmud · 07/10/2015 19:18

Should be in a for a good Aurora watching session tonight ~ don't think I've ever seen a 'severe' Aurora forecast from the Icelandic Metoffice before!

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 07/10/2015 19:44

Ooo, ooo I've found a few more Icelandic webcams here. This one has lots of sky which might be good for aurora spotting.

I would love to be in the Tromso area at the moment!

Wow!!

GloriaSmud · 07/10/2015 20:04

So many photo opportunities ~ I'm holding off as I think it'll get better later. In the meantime, the Icelandic Metoffice's forecast has gone up to 'extreme!'

Top sleuthing on the new Icelandic links, Gloria. We should keep an eye on the Icelandic webcams linked to in the header tonight - I think Thingvellir may give us a show.

RomComPhooey · 07/10/2015 20:35

Damn it. Just noticed I only have 2 more pics tonight. Ration, ration, ration.

GloriaSmud · 08/10/2015 10:47

I did pop back to the webcams last night but most of the Icelandic ones seemed to have clouded over.
The BBC website has some UK pictures, including one of aurora over Talacre lighthouse......where I spent my summer holiday this year.....where I was hoping to see some aurora and saw..... nothing
And on an aurora thread on netweather, they said the lights could be seen as far south as the South Midlands. That probably includes me and it was a clear night as well

Have found another webcam in Norway. (You might have to click on play and let it go through its 'last 24 hours' of film before it gets to 'live'. If you watch the last 24 hours, you do see a quick glimpse of the Lights during the night.)
