:) in case I'm not back by the time the other one fills up.

OP posts:

Was beautiful sunshine here in cambs until now , wind picking up and cloudy sky now. Quite concerned my Dsis is caravaning in an orchard and thinks the whole thing is being over exaggerated

HerdyHerdwick · 27/10/2013 12:52

Weird. It's gone very quiet here. It's been blustery and very rainy all morning. But for the last hour it's changed to fairly sunny, with just a breeze.

scarevola · 27/10/2013 12:57

sponkle - still OK round Cambridge. We're driving back from PILs earlier in the day than usual; traffic fairly light and weather so far unexceptional. Hope you retrieve your DC without problems!

BrownSauceSandwich · 27/10/2013 13:01

Sefton coast: local weather station obs suggest we're past peak win here, and at gusts up to 43 mph, that was nothing special for here. Might be blustery the next couple of days, but again, nothing special.

Good luck southern folks.

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 13:04

Will I still be able to use the gas hob? Because then I can still have coffee and so long as I have coffee and cigarettes and some form of entertainment(e-reader) I will probably make it through the storm.

Of course, I do hope we don't lose power all week. I have a wedding cake to make. There's no getting around that without electric!

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/10/2013 13:04

South Glos calling. Very blowy and increasing. Intermittent sunshine and showers.

Candles and torches bought. Supplies of cheese, bread, hummus, fruit, dried fruit and nuts on hand (all electric here). Chicken cooking. Tottered in with loads of logs from shed for woodburner.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 27/10/2013 13:05

Thanks HerrisonGrin

North Suffolk here, about 100 miles north east of London. Beautiful sunny day but very blustery. Forecast says the worst of it will hit us tomorrow mid morning.

Had a lovely walk with the dog this morning across the fields. Windy but nothing scary.

Bumbez · 27/10/2013 13:10

Just back from a windy dog walk in Appley beach Isle Of Wight. No high waves as the tide was out. Surprisingly warm, sat outside a cafe with a cuppa for a bit.

It's gone v quiet in Cardiff this past hour.

DebrisSlide · 27/10/2013 13:21

The waves are starting to get up Click on the "latest" tab, then the tabs for each region.

captainbarnacle · 27/10/2013 13:22

My dad just called me. He wants me to abandon the house! I live in exposed position on the west coast of the iow which will get the brunt of the storm. House is old and windows are old and gaps around them.

Seems a bit overkill, but now not sure what to do. My dad is safety conscious but not usually prone to such dramatics....

LadyCelia · 27/10/2013 13:23

Very blowy here in N.Surrey, but quite sunny - just been out for a lovely long walk with the DC to get them to burn off some energy in case we're cooped up tomorrow!!

Geckos48 · 27/10/2013 13:23

Just did Tesco, massively busy, lots of people buying stuff and one guy we saw with about 16 ltrs of strongbow and a packet of cheese scones!

We have sandwich stuff just in case, Have brought some wood in from the woodshed so we dont have to leave the house at all and have secured the letter box.

Still very mild here in South Wiltshire, though have had some rather strange showers and quite strong gusts of wind.

Have a couple of torches, candles ready and we are making a huge fish pie tonight for tea, we can warm stuff over the fire so not too concerned about the eleccy going off. Might tune my guitar :)

Whereisegg · 27/10/2013 13:27

Chubby, I have used my gas hob when no electricity but needed a lighter as the spark didn't work.

Really quite blowy in south lincs, but still bright.

youarewinning · 27/10/2013 13:31

Ok, checking the marine forcasts did nothing to reassure me. Shipping forecast mentioned force 11 with possible force 12 and cyclonic conditions.

RegainingUnconsciousness · 27/10/2013 13:32

Back in Devon. Seems to be the normal level of patchy-windy-dampness. Hope things get a bit more interesting, I don't want anything dramatic but it'd be a shame to have such an anticlimax!

Still, we're going to dig the camping lamps/stoves out of the garage and get some supplies in for a cosy 24 hours.

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 27/10/2013 13:38

I read out shipping forecast. Am glad I am now living inland. Every report now is getting worse!!

lubeybooby · 27/10/2013 13:39

so many people on my fb announcing the weather is currently fine so the forecasts are obvs wrong. Of course it's bloody fine at the moment it isn't due to hit til later and then will peak in the early hours!!!

as you were...

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 27/10/2013 13:45

Wind not a problem to planes unless it's blowing across the runway
so don't rely on them to tell you if it's bad!

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 27/10/2013 13:46

of course they could land like this Shock

SalBeautyMoll · 27/10/2013 13:52

Those planes landings are Shock !!

MissMillament · 27/10/2013 13:55

Builders have now left and nothing is banging around any more. Still damn windy though. I can glimpse white caps on the waves from my windows - going to walk down to the seafront in a bit and have a look.

Helenagrace · 27/10/2013 13:59

Trampoline tethered, garden furniture secured, hatches battened here in coastal West Sussex.

Fortunately no one has to go anywhere tomorrow.
