OP posts:

Nottingham. Lots of rain, no wind. Trying to figure out if we've escaped or are in for it later!

Taffeta · 28/10/2013 07:17

Greenandcabbage - our wind, raging for the last 4 hours, has also suddenly dropped off. Kent.

pigsinmud · 28/10/2013 07:17

Pretty quiet here in surrey hills. Doesn't seem to have been much more than a blustery night. Traffic as normal....live on a main road.

Mum2toomany · 28/10/2013 07:17

Sister texted from bournemouth, everything is working and fine!

Plomino · 28/10/2013 07:19

West norfolk here , torrential rain at the moment . Not a huge amount of wind though .

purplepippin · 28/10/2013 07:20

Seems the worst of the weather has missed us in East Kent just very blustery now.

RemindMeWhatSleepIs · 28/10/2013 07:20

OYBBK! Shock Oh no! We need to get her a generator.

East Midlands- just a slight breeze here. Though i've lost my TV signal.

Corygal · 28/10/2013 07:20

Clapham Common, London SW4, full of flailing trees.

Wind wheezing madly round all my windows and doors, all blinds fallen down, balcony door bursting open, hanging baskets looping the loop.

Bankers in Nappy Valley still going to work - traffic jams just starting. Self and cat remain beneath duvet.

wavesandsmiles · 28/10/2013 07:20

Morning Smile doesn't seem to have been too bad in guernsey, CI, although I am on the east coast and quite sheltered.... We get so much in the way of strong wind this time of year it doesn't seem to have been particularly extraordinary, although none of the boats ran yesterday and I don't think they will be running today.

Concerns about power cuts kind of reduced when I remembered that all the island's electric cables run underground so the wind really isn't much of a problem.

Hope those of you now in the midst of it are ok

Greenandcabbagelooking · 28/10/2013 07:21

Now is not the time to discover your windows are not draftproof. Brrrr

topknob · 28/10/2013 07:22

Essex, windy as fuck here...when I woke at 4am it was as well...should calm down soon I guess, dodgy tree at bottom of garden swinging all over the place.

digerd · 28/10/2013 07:22

Strongest gusts in the next few hours in Suffolk/Norfolk, Essex , Berkshire and my and DD's area HertsSad

CatThiefKeith · 28/10/2013 07:22

NW Kent - the blue sky has disappeared, and black cloud is coming from the west. According to the news though the worst has passed.

Seems a lot worse than it was an hour ago though.

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob · 28/10/2013 07:22

Cheers for that chipping, threads not the same without kitten.

MrsBartlet · 28/10/2013 07:23

It's wild here in Essex. We have a fence panel down but luckily no trees down (yet). The power keeps cutting in and out and all trees into London are cancelled at the moment. DH is driving dd into work later and it is a 2 mile drive down a country road lined with trees - we will see what it is like out there.

MrsBartlet · 28/10/2013 07:24

All the TRAINS into London are cancelled, obviously Blush

TheHumancatapult · 28/10/2013 07:25

Sleeping bunnies no overline in London or surrounding areas including airport trains to least 9am

JillJ72 · 28/10/2013 07:25

Thankfully no reindeer were harmed in the throwing of the render Grin

OddBoots · 28/10/2013 07:26

We are at over 900 messages so will need a new thread soon, maybe you could do it ChippingIn as you have been in contact with OYBBK?

mignonnette · 28/10/2013 07:27

Did anybody just watch those absolute idiots get washed off their feet whilst swimming on Sky news w/ Eammonn? The photographer was knocked off his feet and got dragged out. Had there not been two swimmers there (who also got knocked off their feet) he would have been dragged out to sea.

The stupid twat of a woman in her swimming costume who claimed she had been out in worse seas? I notice she didn't rush to go in after that.

BrigitBigKnickers · 28/10/2013 07:27

In Essex-have been sitting here in bed drinking in tea listening to some very scary blusters outside which are rattling the roof tiles- pretty sure if it continues, a few of them will come down... The huge oak tree in the back garden is getting a bit of a battering. In the last few minutes the gusts seem to have died down a bit- hoping that might be the end of it.

DH is downstairs on the PC trying to work from home as all the trains have been suspended till 9am.

ChippingInNeedsANYFUCKER · 28/10/2013 07:27

Norks - Yes she will, yes we do and yes she is!!!! :(

I have to go to work now - lovely drive though lots of woods - fabulous Hmm

Sorry :( I'll check in if/when I can.

Take care everyone!

AnnaConda · 28/10/2013 07:27

Just rung hospital 20 miles away to say we won't be travelling in for ds's operation this morning. They were very understanding - possibly others have cancelled too. Already I've seen on the council's Twitter feed that the road we would have used is flooded and there are trees down, so good decision I think.

Thankfully the op can wait. Ds is going to be thrilled he's avoided it (for the time being) when he wakes up!

Hope everyone stays safe.

Come back Kitten we neeeeeeed you.....

fuzzywuzzy · 28/10/2013 07:29
