Snow watch!!!!

well, it looks like winter finally might be arriving!

First indications for snow are for this coming saturday as a low pressure draws in cold air . The met office arent really going for it at the moment, but the potential is certainly there. At the moment I'd say the biggest risk is for the midlands and central England.

After that there seems to be a cold few days but then the models start to disagree. GFS shows a positive snow fest for the 24th! masses of snow, but its a long way off and until we get much closer who knows what really will happen.

It's getting heavier!

Just been out and its deffently not cold enough to snow here (Dorset), the sun is out and the sky is blue and has been all day.

Dh has to drive to London tomorrow so am hoping it doesnt snow until tomorrow night (if its going too).

Just returned from a lovely few hours of tobogganing and snow tubing.

DCs are knackered :)

BadKitten, hope you dont mind me asking but any thoughts on the Derbyshire Dales? I have a long and iffy commute via lots of hilly country roads. If its going to be bad its possible to change routes to go via main roads (but would need to get up much earlier boo). Thank you.

You are very likely to get snow over night follyfoot and then that looks likely to intensify in the morning. Going home I'd certainly go via the main roads. Probably likely to have a reasonable covering for your journey there too.

Oooh, Met Office now gives us an Orange Snow warning for tomorrow. That's even better than Yellow Snow.

ooh it's started here in Glossop, Folly. Suspect the Snake pass and Woodhead will close overnight.

Hmm, I've just driven past a house, where the fella has decided that now would be a good time to jet wash his massive drive! The only entrance to his house and big enough for 3 cars!

It had all bloomin Christmas to snow, why do we have to have it now. I have places I need to be, and people to see.

South west Northumberland here. Its very cold & we are getting a few flakes, but nowhere near enough to lie! Apparently it'll get heavier over night.
