well, it looks like winter finally might be arriving!

First indications for snow are for this coming saturday as a low pressure draws in cold air . The met office arent really going for it at the moment, but the potential is certainly there. At the moment I'd say the biggest risk is for the midlands and central England.

After that there seems to be a cold few days but then the models start to disagree. GFS shows a positive snow fest for the 24th! masses of snow, but its a long way off and until we get much closer who knows what really will happen.

Freezing cold, wet & windy currently here (Brighton outskirts). Am thinking if it does snow, it probably won't lay as the ground is so wet Sad

GlaikitFizzog · 12/01/2013 15:31

Cold in west Lothian with clear blue skies and sunshine!

pepperrabbit · 12/01/2013 16:40

Grey, cold, wet, sleety on and off.
Not the nicest of days here Sad (NE Hampshire)

LouiseFisher · 12/01/2013 16:43

Even though, I LOVE SNOW, It can be a big nuisance. Therefore, I would love it to snow for an evening then hopefully wash away within the next few days. I believe snow outstays its welcome after a week :)

Dont think so ruby its all talk about it coming. Some people are excited, some are worried, some are in the middle. Its coming though.

Sparklingbrook · 12/01/2013 17:08

I don't think it's coming TBH.

nannynick · 12/01/2013 17:08

It has snowed in North East Scotland, so my mum tells me... she's got snow in her garden. So yes, it has snowed. There have also been a few flakes in places... even when I was shopping earlier in Bracknell Berkshire.

Will be interesting to see how many places have snow overnight. If lots of places do, expect there will be lots of pictures on the various social networks.

Sparklingbrook · 12/01/2013 17:12

I have just looked at BBC and Netweather. I am going with BBC, it's better and doesn't have as much snow. I am hoping for 'light flurries' only.

ArkadyRose · 12/01/2013 17:27

ForecastFox is now telling me "periods of snow & rain" for Monday; I think it gets its feed from AccuWeather though, and I find Netweather usually more accurate. The Met Office has been tweeting Yellow warnings of snow & ice for London & South-East this afternoon. I've been stuck in bed all day and noticed the odd stray flake floating down here in Walthamstow (E17), but nothing serious - definitely not settling.

ArkadyRose · 12/01/2013 17:28

Oh, a mate in Reading just told me via Twitter that it's snowing there & settling.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/01/2013 17:48

We have sleety stuff at the moment.
Got very very cold today, now waiting for my turn for the bath - just got in. A couple of hours standing around/sludging about in ankle deep mud and then the afternoon in a cold hall with sodden through socks after my boots didn't do their job. Brrrrrrrrr.

Will have a quick look at the models but when the bath becomes free I'm downing tools and wallowing!

Ooooh reading is not far from London!

Have opened curtains and am staring hopefully out- street just looks bloody cold ATM.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/01/2013 17:53

All looks very similar to what I typed this morning so I'm not going to retype it :)

WildThong · 12/01/2013 17:57

Im waiting patiently for the white fluffy stuff - no sign yet in the Glasgow area

StairsInTheNight · 12/01/2013 18:09

Fantasy: Tons of white sparkly snow falling straight down, no wind, heavy enough to go out tonight and have snowball fight in the street, which will be entirely blocked by 10pm.

Reality: Bit of grey slush near horizontal, icy wet pavements, grr

Twitter snow map is quite fun where people say where its snowing and it shows a map of the UK with white dots where it has been reported.

LillethTheCat · 12/01/2013 18:57

MegGriffin · 12/01/2013 19:12

I will cling to the word 'uncertainty' OYBBK. Grin But will clean the car tomorrow, check the tyres oil and screenwash and put some petrol in, just in case. Wink
