well, it looks like winter finally might be arriving!

First indications for snow are for this coming saturday as a low pressure draws in cold air . The met office arent really going for it at the moment, but the potential is certainly there. At the moment I'd say the biggest risk is for the midlands and central England.

After that there seems to be a cold few days but then the models start to disagree. GFS shows a positive snow fest for the 24th! masses of snow, but its a long way off and until we get much closer who knows what really will happen.

I do the same as some of you and look at the forecasts with the snowiest pictures! Next Wednesday we have snow all day according to metcheck....one of the symbols is even for heavy snow Grin

ArkadyRose · 11/01/2013 09:23

There's definitely the smell of snow on the wind here in London. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a sprinkle on Sunday, though I suspect it'll go soggy overnight & be gone by Monday.

Marne · 11/01/2013 11:10

Anyone know when/if dorset will get snow?

Met office says 'sleet and rain', metcheck says 'sleet to begin with and then snow by the middle of next week'.

I need to know if it will snow this weekend as i need to drive to pick up our new puppy on monday, once i have got him home i am happy for it to snow lots Smile.

snowflakehellokitty · 11/01/2013 11:21

have checked for me south east -

says not much chance this wknd 80% for monday

any other info for south east and snow risk

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 11/01/2013 11:54

We're on the east coast, hope we get enough for school to shut if it does, I hate driving to school in it!

GloriaSnow · 11/01/2013 13:40

Metoffice have updated their warnings for snow. Think Monday might be a bit of a snowy day ~ up to 5cm even at lower levels!

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 11/01/2013 13:43

We're in the yellow bit from tomorrow til mon, when all the flood water freezes then with snow on top our roads are going to be fun!

Sparklingbrook · 11/01/2013 14:00

Monday isn't ok with me. Sad

Wommer · 11/01/2013 14:09

Yup it looks to have moved to Monday afternoon at "commuting-home-on-the-crappest-in-the-country-at-dealing-with-snow-train-line" time.

Awesome.

Sparklingbrook · 11/01/2013 14:11

Wommer I have to drive 5 miles into the middle of nowhere to get DS1 from the coach. We should have been consulted. Sad

LillethTheCat · 11/01/2013 14:19

Just looked for North Yorkshire. According to netweather no snow till monday night. Metcheck says light snow on and off for sat night through till Tues Morn, same with BBC. It better let me drive the 40 miles to Ripon and back on Tues night for an exam. Im hopeful that any snow will remain light and not cause too many problems for travelling in North Yorkshire.

princessxfiona · 11/01/2013 14:38

Oooh can't wait, I love snow as do my kids.

snowflakehellokitty · 11/01/2013 16:17
Grin
pigsinmud · 11/01/2013 16:57

Well looks crap for me now. Rain tomorrow, everything gone.

MooncupGoddess · 11/01/2013 17:06

Every time I look at netweather the forecast for London has completely changed! I'm exhausted with the emotional rollercoaster. Now looking like a bit of snow on Sunday and some more on Monday, with possibility of a little more on Tuesday and Wednesday.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/01/2013 17:24

Just got in from work. nice to see the warnings change to match the change in greatest risk of disruptive snow for Monday rather than over the weekend.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/01/2013 17:28

well, latest gfs really reflects what the met office are saying. Also keeps the cold til the end of the week, so plenty more chance for snow.
Rather knackered so please scuse the brief comment.

pigleychez · 11/01/2013 17:44

Would love a bit of snow but can we keep any big dumps till the end of next week please!!
Need to be in Kent (south east) for Gran's funeral on Thursday!

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 11/01/2013 17:59

Sorry about your gran, pigley

EndoplasmicReticulum · 11/01/2013 18:02

I wanted it this weekend. Next week will be disruptive, doesn't it know there are exams on?

BelleDameSansMerci · 11/01/2013 18:07

Hmmm... We appear to still have snow forecast for tomorrow (West Yorks - edge of Pennines) on netweather but not seeing it on Met Office. Fingers crossed we get none!

Molepom · 11/01/2013 18:59

I hope we get loads of the stuff, just as long as I get a couple of bits in first tomorrow - may do this after swimming.

maybeyoushoulddrive · 11/01/2013 19:12

We're going to the O2 on Tuesday from Surrey/Sussex borders. I'm guessing we need to be prepared for snow Sad

blackeyedsusan · 11/01/2013 19:56

oh fuck! we have a funeral to go to on monday. going from nottingham to mansfield which can be tricky in snow! used to know where all the gaps in the hedges were as that is where it would blow across... never did fancy getting stuck in thieves wood in snow...

we have been given authorised absence for monday so I hope we can get back...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/01/2013 20:14

Belledame, you might catch some snow showers.
