You will dilite!! Did you see the counters page baroness linked to? It's pretty helpful tho I eventually beat arlo with a hundo rhyperior with surf, a flareon (not maxed out) and a dialga. Used all my stardust powering up a golem but never mind...
I've had a spinda task for ages... Sort of challenging myself now, I can do three in a row but 4 the pressure gets too much and I do a nice!!

@dillite I can’t defeat Arlo, I don’t have the right Pokemon with the right moves/powered up the the right level. I have defeated Sierra and Cliff, but only once, with a lot of perseverance and trial and error with different combination of Pokemon, powering up and changing fast/ charged moves. Takes a bit of a time. I tried using the link earlier on the thread but found I’m better off Googling counters for whatever I’m up against.

We can both beat Sierra and Cliff fairly easily now, but not Arlo as we can never find him! We both need another radar now anyway.

@dillite Do you have a swampert with hydro-cannon? It's a good one to start with as the charge move is so quick you can burn their shields, whilst hopefully keeping yours. Then come in with your tankier options, like a dialga.

No, I haven't looked at the counters as I hadn't anticipated ever actually encountering one! I will be doing some research once I get back to my hotel.

I second using a Swampert with hydro cannon.

we have mastered both Cliff and Sierra now but Arlo still looms. I found him and had a quick go yesterday but couldn't hang around to rematch after his Gyarados ate my Pokemon for breakfast and spat them out. That Gyarados is the worst.

Melmetal or raikou with double electric moves against a gyarados. Almost worth buying Let's Go for a supply of meltans.......

We beat Arlo!
I went in first to find out which counters and moves he had, and by the time I was on my third battle DS had it sussed and beat him cleanly first go.

Now onto Giovanni.......

Where are you encountering Arlo, Sierra & Cliff? Whenever a spin a special pokestop I only seem to get Grunt? Sometimes I can beat him, otherwise no chance. This latest special research is taking me ages as I dont raid much (only 1 or 2 star alone) and I don't have 15 shadow pokemon that are worth purifying.

I have the scanner but just got the grunt today. Do you have to complete the whole of looming in the shadows?

If you tap on the scanner it changes the map view and where there is an 'R' at a pokestop, that's where there's a leader person.

I'm not burning my stardust purifying pokemon for the special research - given that most of them require 3000 that's like 45K stardust, no thanks! And all the rattatas seem to have disappeared.

I did that and it was just the normal one. It was harder and I lost though.

Hi all, I’m also having a hard time beating team rocket bosses. I feel like I’m just burning through my revives/potions for nothing.

I am loving all the tentacools around though! I even got a shiny one!

The 45,000 stardust was mean of Niantic! I gave up looking for zubats and rattatas in the end and just spent it anyway. It does make me think twice about doing the quest every month though. Or will you have to complete it before moving onto the next hour one? I'd rather pick and choose the legendary rewards.
We've not beaten Giovanni yet anyway as we can't find him. We found him by accident on Thursday as he was next to the stop where we'd battled Arlo, but didn't have time to play anymore. Since then he's disappeared. Every stop in the village has been a decoy. I was in town A, DS in town B with DH and still only decoys!
We'll keep looking..........

Make the most of all the teddiursa to get a good ursaring with counter and close combat. If you can't choose or don't have enough stardust a level 35 teddiursa with two stars will be a better choice to evolve than a three star one with a low CP. Ursaring wil flatten snorlax. And it costs 154,800 stardust and 150 candies to take a Pokémon from level 15 to level 35. Unless you play a LOT, that's not realistic.
Same goes for ryhorns and torchic. If you get a half decent one with weather boost evolve that and TM for the right move set. There's plenty around at level 30 - 35 and it'll give you a Pokémon you can use straight away.
