Hey all. Sorry I've been MIA for ages, real life took over for a while and then I was checking the old thread, didn't occur to me there might be a new one (doh!)

I had a reasonable good CD, 8 shinies although nothing with a particularly good IV. Also got a shiny Koffing and Sentret though and 3 Galatian Weezings.

DS got a 100% shiny Moltres from his weekly research this morning so was extremely happy with that.

I've beat Sierra so far out of the leader battles, tried Arlo today but he just scraped victory and I didn't have time to rematch. I'm out and about again tomorrow so fingers crossed I'll get either him or Cliff then.

We tried to take on the Fancy Chimney Sweep Weezing today but it just wasn't happening. I didn't even now that there was such a thing as a Galatian Weezing.

I got 5 shinies, none were any good but I evolved one anyway just because it's pretty.

Sat morning comm day doesnt work for me, prime time for ferrying of kids. Managed to open gifts and evolve with a lucky egg, but didnt get a chance to get out and catch many chimchar. Have plenty anyway, but I normally like to get a shiny. Although I see that shiny chimchar isnt very exciting anyway. Although shiny Infernape is more interesting.

This thread never shows on my 'Threads I'm On', it's so annoying as I lose you guys every time! Totally missed the community day which is very annoying

What's the deal with this rocket scanner thing? I tapped it and it just went into a tiny map view but wasn't clear what I should do! Anyone found a handy walk through I can read?

The scanner will show where the rocket bosses are hiding out. You'll have an R on the map. If you go to that Pokestop you'll be able to battle them. I can't screenshot as I used my scanner earlier and need to collect a new one. Also, it's gone 11 here so they'll all be in bed.

The three great throws in a row challenge is driving me mad! I'm alternating between great and streak broken and the round, fat pokemon have all disappeared

I have learnt to bin any research related to throws - mine are clearly rubbish as I rarely get a good one and have never managed to achieve a curve ball so am not wasting any more balls trying to learn!

You're going to have to practice curve balls if you want to get a spinda - the only way is to throw 5 great balls in a row :-(

Once you've got the technique it becomes second nature, and it greatly increases your chances of catching mons.

Sudowoodos are good for great curves.
Watch the circle decrease, them aim for 3 o'clock if you spin anticlockwise, or 9 o'clock if you spin clockwise.
Mr.Mimes and Ladybas are around at the moment too.

Oh, and start practicing on a flat surface, like a wall or the table if you've got spawn points at home. Then progress to throwing whilst walking in the pouring rain at a later stage!

Thanks for the tips. We seem to waste a lot of balls between us on just straightforward throws - I have a 3 and 6 year old that like to have a go as well!
Now I have friends in the game from this thread I keep meaning to open the gifts when I'm at home and can easily google where they are from around the country but that never seems to happen because we will be out and want to catch a new pokemon and have run out of balls again so I open the gifts straightaway in case there are any more balls in them and we can try to catch!!!
Fortunately there is a pokestop next to their school so we can usually get at least a few each time I do the school run!!! I think the other mums are wondering why I keep walking to the car park when we don't go by car!!!

I can do great curveballs but I’m very inconsistent so several in a row would be a challenge! I haven’t come across the Spinda quest before, I’m still looking for it.

Ah thank you. That was fun! I never know how to choose the pokemon though and usually just go with what is suggested

My highest CP Pokemon in the Great League is a 1496 CP Butterfree, which the app always suggests but I switch it as I can’t imagine it would be any good in battle 🦋

I have now lost to 2 team Rocket bosses. There is no way I will ever defeat them.
