The rocket radars will show you where Arlo, Sierra, and Cliff are hiding. Without one you can't battle them. Alternatively you can battle six team rocket grunts and collect six pieces to build your own for free. Just make sure that your bag isn't full!
Once you've battled the grunt leaders the special research awards you a special radar to find Giovanni.
You can also buy a Rocket box today with 3 radars and potions etc in. It's fabulous value for money, if you were planning on buying them. Around 1,500 Pokécoins worth for only 480.
That said, you can also get everything for free by battling grunts, spinning Pokestops, and opening gifts. (Except the incubator.)

I've actually decided that the reward for the Giovanni research is totally crap.

Complete 7 days research, open box, get articuno with 67% as minimum IV.
Battle in articuno raid with friends. Use maybe 3 revivers and catch articuno with 67% minimum IV.
Complete Giovanni research. Spend hours and hours searching out the leaders. Use 45,000 stardust and countless revivers along the way.
Finally catch articuno. It'll need another 20,000 stardust, 20 rare candies, and a charge TM before you can do anything with it, and mine will never be more than 45% IV.
I really think Niantic should have programmed minimum stats. They do for all the rest of the reward Pokémon!

Baroness I’m glad to hear you say this as I had another go with two leaders today and just plowed through revives and potions for nothing! So I’m stopping now, it’s not worth it. I need to beat 6 Regular grunts for a task, which is do-able but once that’s done I’m giving Team Rocket a miss for a while!

The award was a 45% articuno?! What an insult! Definitely not bothering with it then. I am feeling like there are too many events back to back at the moment.

Can anyone recommend good websites to read up on Pokémon Go?
The stuff I seem to be finding via Google is either very basic or so complex I am completely lost.
I'm just starting to do a bit more battling and want to understand what the numbers and bars next to the moves mean on the Pokemon's stat page (and why is it different for gym/raid Vs trainer)
And if I can understand the stat page a bit better I might be more careful when trading Pokémon back to the professor for more candy...
So any good sites I can bookmark for reading when stuck at home and I want to fulfil my Pokémon fix? Thanks...

If I purify her (at a cost of 20,000 stardust and 20 candies, plus a charge TM to get a real move-set ), she'll be level 25 and all the stats will increase by 2.
So 9 attack, 7 defense, 7 stamina. I guessed that's about level 40 -45.
The most spectacularly shit reward ever.
Even worse than hatching 2* sableyes from 10km eggs.

If I purify mine it will be 2 15 12. I wish that the minimum was 8 8 8 that means it will always be the same as a weather boosted raid.

In contrast I got this shiny beauty in my weekly research box. So a week of 'Make 5 Nice Throws', 'Win a Gym Battle', 'Catch 10 Pokémon' etc gets you this!
It's mad.

Yes tumpy that happened to me, but it changed back. Think I logged in, had to deal with kids and when I went back I was normal.

Anyone got a terrakion yet? I got a couple yesterday during raid hour and I'm now trying to persuade DS to see if we can duo one. The weather is officially windy here though. Waiting for it to change to rainy or cloudy as it's both of those too!

I love all the combees! It is so cute that the females evolve but not the males. I didn’t realise they evolved at all and was just collecting them because they’re cute and I love bees and then came across a female and it evolves!

Not had chance to try for Terrakion. It's done nothing but rain and I've been busy. DS1's off school ill so I've not been free to find raids, anyhow. DH is off work, tomorrow, so I'm hoping I get to try a duo with DS2's phone, taking advantage of the extra friendship boost. Might be SOL for cloudy weather, though.

I lost interest in rocket battles pretty quickly. Gave them another go, last weekend and tried a couple of team leader battles and got nowhere near, even using the gamepress guides. I find it all as tedious as I found Wizards Unite. Too much work and resource investment for too little reward.

I feel the same @PickAChew I’ve wasted so many revives for nothing.
I also cannot do the team leader battles - I’ve done at least 10 and gotten nowhere so rejecting them all now.

I haven't see a Rocket Stop in 3 days, and have never encountered a Team Boss. I did catch a shiny Aron yesterday though.
