VB's dress on Mrs Burnham - horrible

I'm not a fashion expert and I really don't care much for it but this was the most horrible dress I have ever seen. Even on a coathangar bodytype like VB herself it wouldn't look good but on an average body it's just hideous. That's 850 £ unwisely spent. She could and should have gotten a dress from M&S for 50£ and actually looked good.

I'll comment all I like thanks. Instead of doubling down, you really should re-think your critical stance on the way women look. It's bad enough the way men talk about us without women adding to the chorus.

Not a big fan but certainly not the worst I’ve seen and I can’t imagine being so wound up to start a thread about it

I must admit I didn't like the style or the colour particularly, but I can't imagine how stressful it must be knowing how many people will see you and pick holes in what you wear, how you wear it, whether it suits you or not and what you should have worn instead.

I wasn't keen. I really liked the navy dress which Victoria Starmer was wearing. I think Marie-France Burnham, given that she is blonde and pale, would have been better in a stronger colour. The pale blue dress also appeared to keep falling off her shoulders.

Isn't it great to see a woman with a normal body in a pretty dress who feels comfortable in her own skin.

It seems picking the bear is preferable to picking some women as well as men.

I am about as far from fashion-aware as you can get, but I thought the colour made her look ill. I saw she wore another insipid shade of green at some other event recently too, so she obviously likes sugary pastels, but they do not like her.

My gut says deeper, richer versions of those colours might be better, but I am sure she will soon have some input on it whether she likes it or not.

You don't need to rate her prettiness either.

The women in this scenario are there as support, they are not main character here, the main characters today were Keir Starmer and Andy Burnham. Victoria Starmer got it perfectly right - a simple style, plain colour, appropriate to meet the King, not terribly eye-catching.

It’s not the worst dress by any means and I think Mrs Burnham looks very pretty and glowing. The shape of the dress actually emphasises her small waist and curvy hips.

Men would never ever be so horrid. My female friends are often bitchy and judgemental, their husbands would not even notice, never mind bother to comment. We have to be honest with ourselves. Women engage in reputation destruction, bitching, there is no 'sisterhood', I am afraid.

Why do you think it’s ok to start a post slagging off what another woman chooses to wear?

I’ll be honest, I was surprised to see AB wearing a blue tie. That’s the only clothing choice I noted. Maybe the Tories are so small a threat these days that it’s safe for Labour to wear blue.

We comment on fashion because it’s visible, not because we dislike the person. There’s a difference between discussing a dress and attacking someone’s character or appearance.

She wore a bad dress that did her no favours. People are going to comment. It’s human nature.
