VB's dress on Mrs Burnham - horrible

I'm not a fashion expert and I really don't care much for it but this was the most horrible dress I have ever seen. Even on a coathangar bodytype like VB herself it wouldn't look good but on an average body it's just hideous. That's 850 £ unwisely spent. She could and should have gotten a dress from M&S for 50£ and actually looked good.

So much for socialism. Her net worth is estimated to be between two and five million euros!

I don't think you understand what socialism is.

Those things aren’t mutually exclusive. As long as she pays her taxes. You can be a socialist AND be wealthy. You’re confusing socialism with communism.

desperatemum1234 · 26/07/2026 11:49

I actually thought she looked nice in the dress! I am appalled at the price-tag though, another elitist out-of-touch champagne socialist couple.

BIossomtoes · 26/07/2026 11:54

Out of touch and elitist because you buy a dress you can afford? You should see what I spend on mascara!

There's an article out now about the price of his clothes.

Of course there is. In the absence of anything else. People really are pathetic. 🙄

myeyelashes · 26/07/2026 12:33

I think it's also part of the reaction to his flood of SM posts saying how he's such an ordinary guy. Russell Kane is doing some excellent alternatives.

Why are people pathetic because they don't agree with you?

AInightingale · 26/07/2026 12:36

Dawn French has defended MFVH and asked people to stop body-shaming her. Not the biggest fan, but she's spot on. Good to see women hitting back at this sexist nonsense. As it happens, Andy B has middle-aged spread too but there is no way he'd get trailed on social media in the way his wife has.

Gettingbysomehow · 26/07/2026 12:38

Im not anti Beckham or anti PMs wife I just cant understand why she chose such an ugly dress that does absolutely nothing for her when she could hire any stylist to give her advise. If I had to wear that you could be sure Id be wearing decent shapewear underneath because I need it even as a size 10.
It reminds me of Cherie Blair's fuck up when she opened the door to reporters in her dressing gown half asleep.

I suppose he hides it under black t shirts and bomber jackets and 2000 pounds suits?

Gettingbysomehow · 26/07/2026 12:43

It isnt body shaming to dislike a dress. Its body shaming to say things like Lord look at the size of that woman.

Bet you loved that. Lots of us actually find that story quite endearing.

I didnt love it I felt really pissed off that the reporters did that on purpose. Stop chewing lemons, its not a good look.

I saw that on instagram and was less worried about Ms VH and more concerned about Dawn.
Her anger seemed out of proportion, I know it’s not nice but it’s not equivalent to someone being murdered . Dawn seemed really over the top as if she had some other problems

What percentage of the population can spend £850 on a dress, or what you spend on mascara? These are the elite, and out-of-touch because this couple are proclaiming to be “regular people” whilst enjoying all the privileges and luxuries that regular people can only dream of.

So what’s the alternative? Look at how Corbyn was pilloried for wearing cheap clothes. Theres no pleasing the Daily Mail.

When have either of them 'proclaimed' to be 'regular people'?

They both went to Cambridge, for one, which kind of rules them out from being 'regular people' for the past few decades.

I doubt either would use an annoying Americanism like 'regular people' too.

Very few people can afford to spend what I do on mascara. That doesn’t make me out of touch, there were times in my past when I could buy a loaf of bread or a pint of milk. I’ll never forget them. Why would not buying something I can now afford make me any more “in touch”?

The same applies to people like Burnham and his wife. He sees and talks to people at all income levels every day, he donated 15% of his mayoral salary to good causes and his first priority last Monday was homelessness, before he even walked into Downing Street. Maybe look at what people say and do, not the clothes on their backs.

friedaklein · 26/07/2026 13:36

What kind of mascara @Blossomtoes? 😊

So what is appropriate? Clothing that makes him look like the man on the street, but not an anorak or a cheap suit like Corbyn wore, but not an expensive suit? Not Primark, but maybe M&S, but certainly not Armani?

The fact is that snobs hate the Labour Party and they’ll pull them to pieces no matter what they wear. I’m working class, and I know countless people who wear £80 t-shirts. Designer clothes aren’t only worn by the wealthy.

PhaedraTwo · 26/07/2026 13:46

What's the cut off price point for a dress where one becomes "out of touch with regular people"?

A black suit with <gasp> a waterproof black coat instead of a black woollen coat!
