A thread to share and celebrate success for those of us who don't know many fans of weight lifting in real life?

Could I join please!? None of my friends lift apart from people I know through my PT and online fitness group.

I use kettlebells at home (on my own twice a week or with PT once a month).

My current strength is:

16kg kettlebell clean & press (with a bob!) or 12 kg strict.

24kg kettlebell swings.

20kg squats (goblet hold)

20kg single arm lunges

16kg halos

Don't really do many deadlifts now but if I do it has to be VERY slow with a hold then drive up otherwise I don't fatigue

I go heavy for low reps

I eat a lot

Next month is fat loss for summer so I won't be lifting as heavy Wink

Anyone out there? I just discovered this forum, thought at last I have found my people and then saw the thread hadn't been updated for a while...

I'm lifting at a regular old gym. It's totally lacking in the barbell department although we've been promised Olympic lifting stations in the refurb... PB of 60kg (x15) for deadlifts, 110kg (x15) on the leg press and all of 15kg on a back squat. We've only got a Smith machine and it's really hard to find a comfortable position to squat in. I've got to be a bit careful with the squats as I've got a couple of prolapsed discs--much improved by deadlifts, though!

I've been looking at Strongwomen training but I suspect that's probably going to be a terrible idea with a dodgy back!!

Hi penguin! I'm here. I've just started a weights programme after 8 months of gym classes including spinning, kettlebells, HIIT and boxing.

I have treated myself a PT and currently see him once a week with my partner. We are combining weights with tabata intervals to build lean muscle. I train 4-5 times a week.

Some figures...so far ive squatted (x10) 40 kg for 2 sets, dropped to 35kg for the third set, deadlifted (x10) 50kg for 3 sets and done all kinds of other stuff. My partner has been with me for each session so far but im going to try a solo session friday as we have going children.

My current goal is to do a bodyweight pull up.

Hi Craze! PTs are brilliant, aren't they? I see mine once or twice a week and while I haven't lost much weight I've gained serious muscle thanks to her. A bodyweight pull up is a great goal. I've been doing inverted rows as we don't have a pull-up station at the gym yet (another thing promised for the refurb!) and they're getting easier.

Good luck for your solo session!

Thank you. It was good but nerve wrecking. I didnt go too heavy so I knew i'd be ok.

Great news about your gym getting a refurb? Do you go for the trainers? Mine has fantastic trainers.

I actually am worrying i'm going to gain weight as im eating far too much as im used to more cardio. I need to do photos and measurements asap.

Sounds like you are doing great and the inches are falling off!

Just discovered this forum!

Hit a PB on deadlifts last week - 2 x 12/2 x 10 x 67kg (body weight 49kg).

I love deadlifts.
