A thread to share and celebrate success for those of us who don't know many fans of weight lifting in real life?

Was first attempt and I had the "I can't do it moment", forgot about form and thought just pick the damn thing up Grin
It felt heavy, but it doesn't look it

No, you make it look easy.

I think my lifting is really effected by my thoughts, I so easily talk myself out of a lift. I need to put myself a playlist together and get in to my head a bit.

Same here. Especially with clean and press Grin I clean and then go "um. No"
And I find my gym quite intimidating at busy times

Vivacia · 16/06/2015 16:07

Yeah, I know others say that headphones can help with that too. It was quiet for me this morning and not a soul spoke to me.

Congrats on pbs everyone.

Back in the gym last night after a week on holiday. So sore today. Prob should have started on an easier day, I do squats, bench, deadlift and dips on a Monday Hmm

Congrats everyone!
I got a post-baby PB on deadlift today! 112.5kg! Pre-baby PB was 115kg so nearly there again.
I'm going to arrange an Olympic lifting session with one of the coaches at my gym. She instructs on British Weightlifting seminars so I'm really excited.

PB on the OHP this morning, and that's the end of Wendler's week 3. No more gym for me for a few days Sad and then it's deload week.

chiruri that sounds like a fab opportunity - I have asked around at my gym but I'm saying, "Olympic lifts" and they are hearing, "weight lifting".

Hello, I'm just testing whether my phone will let me post!

Aha! It did! Earlier I typed out a post introducing myself and MN just did that little circle thing for about twenty minutes and my post disappeared in a puff of smoke

Let me introduce myself properly Smile

I have only been doing deadlifts for about six weeks now but am hooked. It makes me feel all calm and buzzy. Formerly I used to get this calm and buzzy feeling from doing long runs but unfortunately had to can them, at least for a while, in the spring because of a persistent lower leg issue. Prior to that I was working out in the gym with weights but not actually doing deadlifts, dumbbell squats etc. anyway I am hardly lifting anything in terms of weight (don't laugh at me) but want to get better Smile

Just don't mention the weight Smile but tell us about progress.

I like the phrase "Lift, because someone somewhere is warming up with your PB".

Just stumbled across this board and thought I might stick my head round the door!

Started lifting following some workshops at the gym earlier this year, and got a few weeks in before I found out I was pregnant. I lifted heavy until 9 weeks, then decided I probably ought to be more sensible, so still lift in classes twice a week but reducing the weights and upping the reps. Been working on the Olympic lifts, plus most of the usual supporting ones - sadly not deadlifting at the moment due to being pregnant, but able to do something of most other things!

So, probably not making much progress this year but nice to hear about sone other ladies lifting heavy stuff, I might lurk if that's okay whilst I hold onto my PB goals for after the kid's born Grin

34kg for a complex of power clean, front squat, lunge x2, front squat, power clean

Sounds like a tough workout brain, do you workout in a class or put stuff like this together yourself?

25kg power snatches and 30kg full cleans this morning plus a bit of work on the kettlebells, not very exciting weight-wise at the moment but trying to concentrate on keeping hold of some form.

I find complexes so hard. They make me very sweaty Envy

frescoed that was the strength part of my 7am crossfit class today. Followed by an 18 minute amrap of 200m row, 30 lunges, 200m row, 30 airsquats, 200m row, 30 push ups..... And repeat til 18 minutes is up.
I was 6 push ups short of 3 complete rounds and flat out on the floor at the end, very sweaty Grin

Well done everyone! goodasitgets that's an incredible DL!
I'm so chuffed - PBd my squat clean and C&J today. Got 72.5kg on my clean, and managed to C&J 70kg. Previous PB was 62.5kg for both so I'm really pleased! Ended up doing a 10min EMOM C&J at 65kg too, just to top it off. I think my lifting programme is paying off.

Did front squat today it's not my fave lift but I PBd it going from 57.5kg last time I did it (a month ago) to 67.5kg today. Just over body weight so happy with that. Well done all you PB ers this week! Xx

Well done on the PBs Grin
Yesterday I did overhead walking lunges, 4x10reps with 40kg overhead. Feeling it in my glutes today!
Did snatch today and worked up to 45kg x2. Seeing as my previous (extremely messy) 1RM was 47.5kg I'm pretty pleased. Might try for a new 1RM later in the week if I feel up to it.
