Just that really.

If you are spiritual, do you get anything coming through from this photo?
Any thoughts, feelings or vibes?

Oh wow, thank you all so much for your replies!

It is indeed the poet Raoul Pugh. I am researching him along with a friend after we bought a collection of his letters and we have felt his presence strongly. A couple of spiritual friends have also had feelings when we've spoken about him and I was just wondering if anyone would pick up on anything.

The letters do indicate that he was indeed gay, and he certainly mixed in those circles.

He died aged 23 in 1944 and we have been told there he feels that something was left unresolved and he didn't get to do something important.

Just saw this..oh cool didnt someone say gay in the first page? Well cool.

I agree.

You are in an area of Mumsnet called "The Unexplained" - stick to the other dozens of areas and hide this one if you don't like "woo".

Just a heads up OP you can reverse image search that photo and find out details so remember that if anyone comes along with spot on details

How do you do that?

@TiredDonut had a look up (via ancestry, find a war grave etc.) after looking at photo. Lots of info on him, he was born on 11 July 1921 to John and Martha (Liverpool) thanks to earlier poster for finding it, and in the 1939 census he was registered as "literary student", he had a one older brother (same name as dad) and a sister called Bunny who was 11 years older than him (born 1910). His dad died in 1940 before just before he went to war. He served in the Royal Marines from 1942 when he was 21 years old. His mum died in 1958 (aged 70) in Liverpool, and his brother a year later, aged 50 in Flintshire. I hope this helps. xx

Wow! How on earth did you find all that out just from a picture?

CurlewKate · 30/08/2023 06:52

Yes-it is interesting that people "saw" lots of accurate information in the searchable image - although a lot of Barnum statements too- but very little accurate in the unsearchable one.

sjpkgp1 · 30/08/2023 08:02

I found it using Ancestry.co.uk @Writingonthewalls as I have got a subscription. After everyone had had a fair go at guessing, a previous poster managed to find his name / his parents name. As it is quite an unusual name, it was easy enough to just type him in, and he came up straight away. It's quite good for detail if the name is unusual but hopeless if you are called something commonplace like John Smith. I think I would defo give up the day job if I'd managed that lot from just glancing at a picture though, as that would be a something special in the "woo" department 😂.

There is a sadness. Never quite comfortable within themselves

CurlewKate · 30/08/2023 08:32

There are a couple of very unusual things about the man in my picture. Anybody who was genuinely psychically gifted should be able to see quite easily.

CurlewKate · 30/08/2023 08:33

And yes, he does look sad. It would be difficult to find many pictures of young men from this era who don't!

Wednesdaysotherchild · 30/08/2023 12:38

Intensity, sadness and a creepiness about him. Mental illness?

HarpieDuJour · 30/08/2023 12:59

I have no special abilities of any kind, but I can see the fascination in his story. It is very sad, and there is a hint of mystery at the end ("accidental shooting" could mean literally anything in wartime).

NameChangeEmbarressed · 30/08/2023 22:26

I get the feeling he has unfinished business of some kind

Anonymouseposter · 07/09/2023 16:03

Sadness and a bit of resentment?

Gellhell · 23/10/2023 16:36

RAF. Possibly lost at sea. Grave is somewhere away from home? France. I don't feel they had children or a partner. Quite young.
