The case of Elisa Lam fascinates me.

vigilantcitizen.com/vigilantreport/mysterious-case-elisa-lam/

The poor girl obviously went through "something" before her death. She was found in the rooftop water tank above a LA hotel. Her clothes were never found, the CCTV is creepy and her family will likely never have the answers :(

What do you make of it? Any mysteries that also fascinate you?

Although now sleep walking has been mentioned she is moving in that very peculiar way a sleep walker moves.

Can I just say not all sleep walkers move funny? My DS is a sleepwalker but you can only tell when you try talking to him, when he appears all confused. But when you see him walking it's perfectly normal.

I've had an email from Websleuths this morning-has the Sharon Marshall case finally been solved????

frumpypigskin · 05/10/2014 09:41

what did the email say? I can't find anything on the web about it

Blueandwhitelover · 05/10/2014 09:44

It's a list of most recent posts on the Sharon Marshall #5 thread, I'm subscribed to that one and they all seem to be talking as if she has finally been identified but I couldn't find anything on the web as such. It's had about 80 posts overnight

frumpypigskin · 05/10/2014 09:49

I think this is an update: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_Delano_Floyd

Blueandwhitelover · 05/10/2014 10:19

It is apparently right. www.mattbirkbeck.com/blog/finally

Wow, just wow, after all these years.

frumpypigskin · 05/10/2014 10:39

I know this is a typical thing to say but I don't understand why it took so long for the police to work the link out.

Apparently his ex partner had been to the police to say her 4 children had been abducted and only 2 were ever found. That means surely police had 2 missing children on their books linked to Floyd.

There are still two boys that had been in his care that have never been found.

frumpypigskin · 05/10/2014 10:43

Sorry have just read your link. It looks like the aliases worked and meant that he was difficult to trace. Very tragic case.

MorrisZapp · 05/10/2014 10:59

Good god. That is truly awful. Surely such crimes couldn't happen today.

Methe · 05/10/2014 11:04

Watching the elisa lam video make some think of the way a person behaves when under the influence of ketamibe.. The way she moves and the bizarre hand movements especially. Ketamine is a very odd drug and I believe it doesn't take very long to be untraceable.

Whitershadeofpale · 05/10/2014 23:29

It's amazing that her identity has been discovers after so long. There's obviously still lots of unanswered questions though, like what happened to her other children Sad

MiscellaneousAssortment · 05/10/2014 23:53

I suspect crimes like this do still happen today. We think we live in a different world, but really, it's just superficially transformed. We still rely on the humanity of others.

I can well imagine a situation where a woman reported a crime to her / her children but it wasn't taken seriously as she wasn't the 'right type' of person. Sorry to bring it up as its a well worn example, but Rotherham... those victims didn't exactly have the status in the community for anyone to step in and help, or in alot of cases even record the girls asking for help, reporting a crime.

Yup, technology may have changed, but the depths and darkness of human nature haven't,

HappyGoLuckyGirl · 05/10/2014 23:58

No...I'm not place marking.

Carry on.

EverythingIsAwesome · 19/10/2014 14:35

Ohhh just got an email to say this had been moved to this section - I didnt even know it existed!

OP posts:
EauRouge · 19/10/2014 15:17

It's new! I asked for it to be moved, hope that's OK. I thought it was too good a thread to disappear. I've been watching it for ages and gradually working my way through all the links and stories.

nicebitoftoast · 21/10/2014 16:33

Haven't read full thread yet (am waiting until I'm not alone in the houseGrin) but it looks fascinating!

HangingBasketCase · 22/10/2014 15:10

The story of the man from Taured is fascinating. Basically in 1954 a man of European appearance arrived at Tokyo airport with a passport and driving licence saying that he was a citizen of the country of Taured, except Taured doesn't exist. When the man was probed by Japanese immigration officials he claimed the country had existed for a thousand years and was on the border between Spain and France, they produced a map and asked him to point it out and he started to get quite distressed because it wasn't in there.

They took him to hotel and he was kept under armed guard over night with two immigration officials sat by the door to stop him escaping. The next morning the man had vanished for on the room without a trace along with his belonging and documents, he couldn't have gone through the window because the several floors up.

Really strange.

EauRouge · 22/10/2014 17:19

Wow, that Taured one is ace. I found some details about it here, and there are some similar stories too.

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 23/10/2014 06:37

I just found [http://www.buzzfeed.com/daves4/wikipedia-makes-it-impossible-to-sleep?bffb&utm_term=4ldqphz&s=mobile this mysterious list on buzzfeed]] today. Number 20 looks very unpleasant, perhaps skip past it if you're feeling sensitive. I did.

The twins one was incredible though, how did she die?!!

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 23/10/2014 06:38

Let's try that again I found this on buzzfeed

CuttedUpPear · 23/10/2014 08:54

Marking place

lumpyparcel · 23/10/2014 10:21

Good grief the story about the twins could be a horror movie!
I've been reading these links all morning!

HangingBasketCase · 23/10/2014 12:40

If anyone is familiar with the Digital spy forums then I would strongly recomdend a thread on there called "The Creepiest thing that's ever happened to me" it's been running since 2010 and is now on Part 2, there are some incredible stories on there. Obvious and explainable ones like people people distributing burglars breaking into their homes and people narrowly avoiding being harmed/abducted and then the more bizarre and dare I say "woo" stuff.

It's a brilliant read. I'd recommend it.

SageSeymour · 24/10/2014 09:55

Place marking

EauRouge · 24/10/2014 10:27

Oh wow, I feel so sorry for that Benjamin Kyle bloke, imagine not knowing who you are :(

And that roller coaster, just wtf Shock That might be the most fucked up thing I've ever heard of.
