You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

We are still waiting advice on chairs and masks but keep the windows open. You don’t have to upload LFT results during the holidays.Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask.

Just checked symptoms etc for heat stroke, and no, he hasn’t got that. But thanks anyway.

All seemed to have gone quiet on the meet up idea so I hadn’t done anything, but if ppl want to PM me and say what your preferred method of more personal contact is, we could start chatting about possibilities.

Although I am beginning to wonder if it’d be sensible given the rising infection rates? Maybe we should do regional meet ups like the one suggested above?? For now. I could still put ppl in touch with each other within “regions”??

(Mwahhaha, I’d be the only one to know where everyone was Grin)

noblegiraffe · 17/07/2021 17:41

It is now my personal resolution to never tell Jan where I live.

JanFebAnyMonth · 17/07/2021 17:54

piggy, do you know how long those students’ PCR results took, think they’d go via the same Ligththouse lab as DS’s will be sent to? I know some results are taking longer at present. The test centre was certainly the busiest I’ve seen it, but that wasn’t hard.

MrsHamlet · 17/07/2021 17:56

Halfway between me and mrsAd is probably the middle of a lake/water/tarn.

Piggywaspushed · 17/07/2021 18:12

Quick jan. About a day.

Saucery · 17/07/2021 18:19

@MrsHamlet

Halfway between me and mrsAd is probably the middle of a lake/water/tarn.
Then I will be there, bobbing about in my wild swimming attire — don’t let that put you off —
borntobequiet · 17/07/2021 19:01

Well anywhere in the West Midlands, tell me.
Of course you could all come for a picnic on my hill.

MrsHamlet · 17/07/2021 19:23

Have summer. Will travel.
Two (unregistered by Nhs) jabs. Would rather get "it" from you than from Bob.

Saucery · 17/07/2021 19:25

Are you unregistered because of the trial, MrsH?

MiniCheddarMuncher · 17/07/2021 19:30

Re: meet up, life is complicated by toddler but that can be worked out. I'll PM you jan
😯 Scary idea, meeting everyone in real life!

JanFebAnyMonth · 17/07/2021 19:32

Would rather get "it" from you than from Bob.

I think that’s a compliment....

Mistressiggi · 17/07/2021 19:34

Meeting you all wouldn't scare me well maybe one or two of you Grin but I don't think I would feel very safe on a long train journey just yet.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/07/2021 19:39

I'm still game depending on area and date.

thecatfromjapan · 17/07/2021 19:52

I'm always up for a meet-up. 🙂

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 17/07/2021 20:05

West Mids might be manageable for me. Have family there.

I’m with Mistress on the long train journey though.

Just realised I’m unreasonably annoyed about it too. Being CV and having been careful (as much as you can be when you work out of home and have to use public transport to get there) I was looking forward to being able to relax a bit this summer now i’m double jabbed. Now we’re going to let it run rampant with no mitigations instead.

JanFebAnyMonth · 17/07/2021 20:08

Completely understandable about long train journeys, even more so if you’re CV.

Interesting that (according to MN) some schools /LAs seem to be retaining all of this year’s mitigations in Sept.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 17/07/2021 20:13

I’d imagine that whatever is being said about September now won’t be in place by September. Not ruling out a 1 day return followed by a u-turn like in January though.

noblegiraffe · 17/07/2021 20:32

So fucking annoying that we're all having to worry about catching covid again. When infection rates were super low I'd got out of that 'every little cough could be covid' mindset that comes from spending your day in a stuffy soup of positive cases. Now I'm spending my days in a stuffy soup of positive cases, but with the added joy of 'not just a cough, this sore throat could be covid too'

Saucery · 17/07/2021 20:39

Realistically, I’m not meeting up with anyone involving a train ride or a significant number of Other People.
Ikwym noble, I cannot believe we are here again Sad

borntobequiet · 17/07/2021 20:43

I took a train to London today and then the first properly crowded underground journey in over a year (a number of lines were suspended so the Bakerloo platform was heaving).
I did ask the bloke sitting opposite me to wear his mask correctly.

MrsHamlet · 17/07/2021 20:46

I train most days and have done some long journeys. Much safer feeling than Bob's class.

Yep Saucery - we don't get into the NHS system. Not. Impressed.

noblegiraffe · 17/07/2021 20:48

Does that mean you can’t get out of self isolation on the 16th, MrsH?

MrsHamlet · 17/07/2021 20:56

@noblegiraffe

Does that mean you can’t get out of self isolation on the 16th, MrsH?
Well... I have a piece of A4 card with 4 dates and some random numbers on. AND a letter from someone which says I'm vaccinated. It apparently "counts" here but is bugger all use for travel.
JanFebAnyMonth · 17/07/2021 21:16

Yes apparently they had to close several lines at one point because of staff who’d been pinged.

Am wondering where the govt’s going to go with the economy and services starting to fall
Apart because so many are having to isolate. Some areas bins aren’t being collected. WILL they just bring the 16 August changes to isolation forward??

But that won’t solve things like the big Birmingham hosp that’s had to cancel all ops because ICU is utterly full.

MrsHamlet · 17/07/2021 21:19

Several Avanti West coast trains cancelled today for lack of train crew
