You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I did wonder how I’d missed the crofters. (Interestingly my autocorrect reciprocally corrected crofters to crafters.)

noblegiraffe · 14/02/2021 14:08

I want to hear more about these affairs we're all having, according to Mistress

Where do you get the time? Or more to the point, the energy?

JanFebAnyMonth · 14/02/2021 14:10

(Or indeed, the nice single men!)

JanFebAnyMonth · 14/02/2021 14:24

Ah, my mistake, you don't need a single man to have an affair. Was focussing too much on my dream scenario there

MrsHamlet · 14/02/2021 14:26

A man who is nice to look at would be a bonus. Our HT only employs young attractive women.

MsAwesomeDragon · 14/02/2021 14:26

I'm interested in the affairs I'm supposed to be having. Can someone tell me some logistical details please? Like where do I sign up? What men are in the scheme? Who arranges the childcare while we're doing it (I can't imagine dh being too thrilled to be left with dd while I go off to have an affair)? Is it compulsory?

noblegiraffe · 14/02/2021 14:26

I was about to say that if you're willing to have an affair, you're probably open to some flexibility about their marital status, Jan!

noblegiraffe · 14/02/2021 14:28

We had an ITT student once who was just totally gorgeous (not maths, obvs). Like, the whole school was talking about it.

Really cheered us up for their whole placement!

MrsHamlet · 14/02/2021 14:28

I think you can be excused the affair but only if you're sunbathing, drinking gin and doing your garden.

Appuskidu · 14/02/2021 14:31

not maths, obvs

That really made me laughGrin

I had a student teacher in with me once that looked just like Alan Carr-the resemblance was uncanny!

PumpkinPie2016 · 14/02/2021 14:31

Wow 47th republic already! Glitterball

I am in need of a virtual kick up the arse today! I am trying to write my final NPQML assignment. I've done the project, it was successful (yay!) -nice data showing improvement in pupil outcomes -so, everything I need!

I just hate writing Sad

But, I need to get on with it!!

I am planning to give myself an hour and a half from now to do as much as I can -I reckon once I have started, it will get easier - being dyslexic means starting is always the hardest bit. I am going to try not to focus so much on the quality of writing at first but just getting something down!

MsAwesomeDragon · 14/02/2021 14:32

Oh bugger MrsH. I'm not doing any of those. So I don't get to have an affair? I have to stick with MrAD?

MrsHamlet · 14/02/2021 14:34

Look MrsAD - you're going to have to do something disreputable, otherwise we'll have to excommunicate you.

chocolateisavegetable · 14/02/2021 14:34

Most important logistical details: you must not use a chair at any stage of the affair, and obviously you must not share food either

MsAwesomeDragon · 14/02/2021 14:39

I'm ok with no chairs, slightly disturbed about no sharing food, but I could take my own snacks? MrsH I can't think of anything disreputable that I do. Maybe you'll accept that I'm often ever so slightly stoned from the weed fumes coming from next door's garden?

Monkeytennis97 · 14/02/2021 14:45

Hello all😊

MrsHerculePoirot · 14/02/2021 14:56

Hello! I’ve got Among Us but we haven’t really played it yet - is it good?

Beachhuts90 · 14/02/2021 15:01

Our trainees have only come in this term, where we are all wearing masks in communal areas, so it is hard to tell who might be attractive!

OpheliasCrayon · 14/02/2021 15:01

After willingly saying I would try a small amount of potato to see if I could eat yet... It is fair to say that I cannot eat.
That put a stop to my book ordering but will resume that later on!

Butmiss · 14/02/2021 15:07

@Piggywaspushed I hope your DH is in group 6. I've been hospitalized for my asthma as a child but according to my GP, am not in group 6. But I've read that people on similar inhalers to me have been. It seems a bit of a postcode lottery.

Happy half term everyone! We are ordering sushi and going for a walk.

motherrunner · 14/02/2021 15:13

Can I please rejoin? I had to take a huge break. My MH wasn’t strong enough. GP has adjusted my meds, and that with mainly WFH, has made me feel more I control.

Hope everyone is well. @noblegiraffe See you’re keeping up the good fight! @Monkeytennis97 How’s your boy?

And thanks @Staffdontblowitnow for keeping everyone together.

OpheliasCrayon · 14/02/2021 15:16

Ok everyone thanks to suggestions and then things I found and remembered on the way, this is my order list. What do we all think?

mirabelle breaks the rules
isadora moon makes winter magic
isadora moon goes to the ballet

jill tomlinson animal books (all second hand): the kitten who wanted to go home, the penguin who wanted to find out, the otter who wanted to know, the hen who wouldnt give up, the gorilla who wanted to grow up (we have the other two so that's the full set)

daisy and the trouble 10 book set

the naughtiest girl in the school - first three books in one

the magic faraway tree - first three books in one

mummy fairy and me - all 4 book set

88 quid in all. The 100 was because I've added on a few for my youngest (two peppa lift the flaps and a maisy science book) because she clearly can't get nothing if her sister gets a haul!

Good value or am I being ripped off? Most I've had to buy new but the faraway tree and naughtiest girl were 8 quid each three books in one so that wasn't bad.

I'm glad your feeling a bit better. I don't know what your circumstances were leading to you needing to see your GP and have meds adjusted but it's good to hear you're feeling more positive. I have some fairly significant MH issues (just to add to all the phsyical stuff ) - it really takes its toll when things aren't on an even keel. Not to mention whilst trying to do this job, parent and generally trying to keep on top of everything. It's ok not to be ok , remember that.
Monkeytennis97 · 14/02/2021 15:23

@motherrunner hiya! We are seeing him next week 😊 first time since Christmas-can't wait😊😊

chocolateisavegetable · 14/02/2021 15:23

motherrunner sorry to hear your MH wasn't good, but glad to hear it's improving. You missed some vital discussions about the definition of "tall", the size of feet and the banning of chairs for teachers, but hopefully you'll catch up fairly soon Smile
