You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

It's reception, and a child case.

Unpossible surely? Children don't get it....

WhenSheWasBad · 27/01/2021 12:32

@MrsHamlet

Guess what?! I'm more blind than I used to be. Optician suggested less screen time.
Bugger. Not really sure what to suggest on that one.

Sorry about another bubble going rule

  • “kids don’t catch it” Hmm I know a few primary teachers who are pretty certain they caught it from a child (they can name the child - not in a blaming way, they just know).
RigaBalsam · 27/01/2021 12:32

The prime minister has confirmed that there is more news to come later today, though.
Hotel quarantine is likely to be only applied to "red list" countries and there will be an update on schools.

Hmmm ugh I feel the dread.

WhenSheWasBad · 27/01/2021 12:36

Another update?

I bet exams are back on.

Monkeytennis97 · 27/01/2021 12:39

Primaries back (staggered) after half term.

Possibly yr 11 and 13.

That's my guess.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 27/01/2021 12:40

It's primary going back after half term, I tell you...

PHE have said primaries are 'safe' for the community.

Although Johnson is skirting the issue of half term school staff immunisations in PMQs today, so maybe it's that.

@Stepawayfromtheminirolls

Well, I have to start live lessons next week - feedback from parents to SLT demanded it. I'm lucky in that it's only one hour per class, unlucky in that all 5 hours are on the same day! This is going to be fun...
If they demanded your first born's blood would the school have to implement it? (Actually don't suggest that to UFT!)
RigaBalsam · 27/01/2021 13:01

The fail are saying exam years that are die to be accessed and y1 and year 6. Use of the word could.

noblegiraffe · 27/01/2021 13:14

I just went to the Mail to see the latest flag flying and spotted this.

Maybe the announcement will be about a new type of testing programme in schools Grin

JanuaryChill · 27/01/2021 13:16

😆

JanuaryChill · 27/01/2021 13:18

I think that al he's going to say is that he'll tell us in Feb when the "roadmap" out is published.

So he's announcing that "sadly, alas, alack" .... toady to CRG /U4T .... "schools will not be able to return after half term as originally planned"

DreamingofBrie · 27/01/2021 13:32

Eww Envy not envy.

Monkeytennis97 · 27/01/2021 13:33

Dare I say it, he is sounding sensible at the moment

Monkeytennis97 · 27/01/2021 13:34

Plan to be announced on 22nd Feb I think

RigaBalsam · 27/01/2021 13:35

Not possible!

Monkeytennis97 · 27/01/2021 13:35

Not possible to open schools immediately after half term

RigaBalsam · 27/01/2021 13:36

He is thinking 8th March

noblegiraffe · 27/01/2021 13:36

Beginning to re-open from 8th March based on vaccination results actually sounds sensible.

Monkeytennis97 · 27/01/2021 13:36

8th March reopening... not sure who.

JanuaryChill · 27/01/2021 13:37

8 Mar may be date for beginning reopening schools

JanuaryChill · 27/01/2021 13:38

Oh great more of the wonderful catch up.. summer schools, Covid premium

JanuaryChill · 27/01/2021 13:39

... and a long term plan for the rest of this parliament (3 years)!

noblegiraffe · 27/01/2021 13:42

Invicta can do the summer school 👍

WhenSheWasBad · 27/01/2021 13:43

Tragically I have plans over summer and will be unavailable.

MsAwesomeDragon · 27/01/2021 13:44

Make some puppets and do a puppet show - NO dd would have chosen this one first, and grabbed some socks to draw faces on as her puppets. There would be very minimal effort, but she would have fulfilled the brief.
