You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Thanks for all the tips on freezing the screen.

MrsH good tip on just using the application window. I’ll start doing that.

I’ve taken to sharing my whole screen because I’m a bit obsessed with drawing on my powerpoints using my drawing pad. It’s great for some things, but I think I’m starting to piss off the pupils as I love highlighting everything. Grin

WhenSheWasBad · 30/01/2021 16:24

bornFlowers sorry things are so shit for you at school.

ChloeDecker · 30/01/2021 16:32

@GravityFalls

Just spotted this nice juxtaposition of threads in active...
Isn’t it just!? It’s like when everyone clamours to say ‘why don’t they teach this that or the other at school?’ and when schools do, it’s still met with parental complaint! Grin

Just had a nice video call with DS. He seemed happy and was quite 'chatty'. Smile Bit of happy news.

JanuaryChill · 30/01/2021 16:46

It must be very frustrating @cantkeepawayforever .

Frlrlrubert · 30/01/2021 16:58

Honey

I think my HoDs issue is that the person in question is SLT - the power dynamic is very off.

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/01/2021 17:10

@Monkeytennis97 that lovely to hear!

HarrietDVane · 30/01/2021 17:12

That's great news, @Monkeytennis97 Smile

JanuaryChill · 30/01/2021 17:46

Good to hear monkey.

Mistressiggi · 30/01/2021 17:52

Glad he is cheerful, monkey, it must help even though you miss him. X

Just seen the school newsletter and the ‘headline’ news is that staff are taking the lateral flow tests. I’m not sure why this has annoyed me and I may well BU, but my first response is it’s not really any of the parents’ business. I saw it as an operational decision rather than something to be shared with them. They haven’t been told of any other measures the staff are taking. I might not have signed up to it if I’d known, because a significant number of parents are stretching the definition of ‘key worker’ to the limit and there are a lot of play dates and meet ups happening.
Hmm

TrashedWarrior · 30/01/2021 18:12

That's lovely Monkey!

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 30/01/2021 18:34

Great news monkey.

Our MAT CEO got a huge press release out of the lateral flow testing. Ironic that no one has seen them since September until the photographer appeared.

The moans re disparity in resource provision is being felt here. So often HOD and I end up re doing shite other people in the dept have prepared. No amount of training seems to cure it. HT won't put them up the payscale due to the rubbish but unfortunately not much else seems to be able to be done.

MrsHamlet · 30/01/2021 18:40

Even though I'm a mercenary idiot and a cold blooded witch, I'm delighted for monkey

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 30/01/2021 18:44

MrsH you are being far more eloquent than me. Who does this job out of love for children alone?

Monkeytennis97 · 30/01/2021 18:46

@MrsHamlet thanks 😂😳🧙

MrsHamlet · 30/01/2021 18:46

People who were bankers in their past life perhaps.
I do love an idiot argument though ... it gives me the warm and fuzzies 😂😂

Monkeytennis97 · 30/01/2021 18:47

@HercwasanEnemyofEducation it's easier to feel like that when you've only seen one cohort through..

Monkeytennis97 · 30/01/2021 18:48

Aww thanks everyone x now I've got the warm and fuzziesSmile

JanuaryChill · 30/01/2021 18:53

So I guess, Saucery and herc, your heads are following the Guidance from DfE about positive news messages....

Had forgotten about that element!

CallmeAngelina · 30/01/2021 18:57

Won't somebody think of the children?

MrsHamlet · 30/01/2021 18:58

Nope. I'm counting my gold and doing tricks on my broomstick

JanuaryChill · 30/01/2021 19:05

Read an article from The Independent (iirc) earlier, saying govt's realised tiers aren't a good idea as people just travel - to pubs etc, therefore measures may be eased at the same pace everywhere as we come out of lockdown. And very slowly.

So all (English) schools would do the same thing at the same time.

MrsHamlet · 30/01/2021 19:27

Rah!!!!
Can someone please pass me the stick sharpener? One end's gone blunt...
