You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

User, there's already a thread asking why not Year 2 and that they're going to complain to the DfE.

Not all R and Yr 1 students will be in. It is ‘tiny steps’. The schools still have to work out how SD will work

It's like a.half arsed plan cooked up by people who aren't in.school or parents and have dipped in.to bits of sm.......oh wait......

Gutted for English primary colleagues having to deal with all this shit now.

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/05/2020 20:18

ThanksSolidarity all.

Thing is they'll have to get nurseries open to accommodate people going to work and the huge numbers of mums of v young children as obviously it's predominantly women in primary schools. (Which may be the other factor...? 🤔)

Also the Rec and yr1 age groups are hardest to wfh with, so we are basically child care.

I'm assuming it's y4 for first schools? Pointless for y6 in middles.

Asuitablecat · 10/05/2020 20:19

And parents still won't be able to go to work.

WhyNotMe40 · 10/05/2020 20:20

My yr1 child will not be returning as long as I'm still WFH or DH has holiday.
I think I'm pretty much decided that I will be handing my notice in for half term

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/05/2020 20:27

BoJo did not say full time - tiny steps. It could be alternate days or something like that.

We have parents assuming it will be business as usual on other threads and kids will be able to play as before but that is not the case. The little ones in Denmark were all pictured eating their packed lunches at a SD.

Did you expect anything else

Nope

FrippEnos · 10/05/2020 20:40

Maybe he meant the R in Yr1, and missed out what the R value is?

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/05/2020 20:41

Thanks why

Day by day I'm thinking more and more of handing my notice in. I feel so different now. I sat down and read a book the first time in years yesterday.

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/05/2020 20:43

BoJo did not say full time - tiny steps.

Yes you are right. And lots of ifs.

Also, the younger ones are the ones who are less able to speak up about abuse. Not that any child finds that easy but I do feel if want to be keeping an eye on more of the Rec and y1s

It's still all just childcare. Not much though.

Saucery · 10/05/2020 20:44

And the key worker children will still be in? There’ll be some bloody moaning about that from some parents.
I am genuinely dreading having to go in to R and Yr1. They do not wash their hands, they do not keep apart. I refuse to be cannon fodder. I’m considering resignation too.

Piggywaspushed · 10/05/2020 20:44

What happens now to key worker DCs outside those year groups?

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/05/2020 20:45

That came out wrong; it's not the child's responsibility, but staff are able to keep
A closer eye on those younger children. I hope you know what I mean!

Piggywaspushed · 10/05/2020 20:45

Especially year R and Year 1 teachers' children!

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/05/2020 20:47

Piggy, they'll surely have to go in??

My son's head has been taking her two in with her. I can't do that at my school. It's Sen. Unless they set up a class room crèche. Confused

NeurotrashWarrior · 10/05/2020 20:47

Logistical fucking nightmare.

RigaBalsam · 10/05/2020 20:53

That thread about y2. Literally 5 minutes.

Would be comical if it wasn't so tragic.

Asuitablecat · 10/05/2020 20:59

And the desperate need for year 1to be doing proper work when.they're back in..people have no idea how weird it will be.

MossWalk · 10/05/2020 21:05

People saying the little ones need to see their friends.

How bloody cruel it will be to sit on their own eating their lunch.

SansaSnark · 10/05/2020 21:09

Solidarity with primary school teachers- it's not fair you should have to go back if you feel it's unsafe.

Drop off and pick up will be very difficult with social distancing, and that does put you at risk.

NEU are surveying members btw, so check your emails if you are a member. It looks like they are trying to find out numbers of people who are vulnerable as well as finding out our views about returning to school.

BelleSausage · 10/05/2020 21:10

I agree that parents are looking at this through rose tinted glasses- because it is rosy for them. To begin with.

Lots of parents are desperate for a break or to get more work done.

It will be less ideal when the child is talking about how weird and different school is and how they don’t want to go in anymore.

Or when a child’s friend or teacher becomes ill and is hospitalised.

People can’t think beyond next week!

Hercwasonaroll · 10/05/2020 21:25

I understand everyone's concerned but we can't stay with only key workers children forever.

What will be different by September?

Aren't we better off taking small groups and getting them used to it?

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/05/2020 21:28

Absolutely rose tinted specs thinking it will be the same as before - sorry ‘huns’ it will be all SD otherwise if R goes up then schools will close again.
