Harry must see the news. Do you think in some tiny part of his brain, he has realised what sort of family he married into?

why on earth were the Markle / Ragland brood not vetted pre wedding? Queen should have said, absolutely marry away but titles, LOS gone.

It's too late now. Any action done will be spun, poor Meg, not her fault her father a CSA etc etc

This is what I can’t get my head around, the supposedly all powerful royal family who according to some on here control the press the judiciary and the government somehow couldn’t stop this trailer trash of a family getting within sniffing distance of the RF.

I never got the impression Doria and Meg share a loving relationship at all. Doria always struck me as very cold.

Agree. And I think this is part of the reason why MM comes across as so unnatural as a mother. Partly because of her narcissism, partly because she actually spends very little time with her children I reckon, but also because I think there was damage in her early years with regards to the important mother-child relationship. I don't think she had a normal bond with Doria and I don't think she bonded with her children, certainly not with Archie. I never forget those photos of her holding him at a royal event when he was about a month old. Holding him so awkwardly, it was patently obvious she'd held him very little thus far.
That's why her conversations about her children are so strange, always randomly reeling off their ages because she doesn't know what else to say, speaks about them in boring boy/girl cliches and never as individuals, can't say what their favourite meals are. I imagine she enjoys the mamas boy and mamas mini me princess roles they occupy in her mind but I doubt she has much of a connection with them as individuals. I expect she love bombs them for short periods or fawns perfomatively on them in front of Harry, then she's done and the nannies need to take them away.

I really don't think so. He didn't care to find out anything about his in laws at all. He seems besotted with his wife

Am I the only one delighted it's Harriet in Hello, not the Hams? I can just imagine the frothing in the Ham household that someone else - Royal 'approved' no-less - is on their new publicity 'patch' (the Cotswolds) :-D

Delighted is going a little too far for me but I am certainly pleased not to have to imagine their smugness at having yet more media attention.

It would've been disastrous for them if they were seen to spurn Harry's biracial fiancé. Plus they probably hoped Meghan would be keen to leave her murky past behind her. No one could've predicted she'd be how she is.

DancingFerret · Today 10:45

Forgive the derail, please, but I needed to come up for air and take a break from the reading about the tacky and mendacious Markles, so I took a moment to read Harriet's interview in Hello.

Ignoring the obsequious writing style of the article, I hope Princess Anne had prior knowledge and gave approval - and if she did, it was probably because there's a nod and link to Harriet's charity at the bottom of the page.

I really hope that this just might be the straw that breaks the King's back when it comes to these two. All this taking the headlines yet again when the King is on an overseas trip.

Meghan's family are pure trailer park trash and decent vetting at the early stages would have brought all this out before any public wedding took place. Harry should have married if that's what he wanted but at the cost of having his place in the LoS removed and his titles put into abeyance.

But can you imagine the screams of racism ? The RF were in a very difficult position . I am confident that they were made aware of not just the Markle family history but also Meghan’s. I am NOT slut shaming . I don’t care how many consenting adults she slept with but the Epstein connection I do care about .

No not delighted at all- honestly I'm quickly becoming a Republican.

Ex -nurse? Are we funding them now.

Oh I agree they were between a rock and a hard place I was just pointing out the ridiculousness of some who think the RF are all powerful yet somehow the trailer trash Markles managed to marry into the BRF, just goes to show they don’t have as much power as some think on here.

I never paid any attention to the Epstein rumours until I found out about her pretending not to know who Beatrice and Eugenie's father was. She pretended not to recognise AMW. It could just be another sign of her flogging that cringeworthy story of her not ever having heard of or ever seen a photo of any member of the RF.
But I suspect that she had met AMW before or least been at the same party as him at some point. This could also explain why the RF couldn't move against her from the beginning, if she had stories to tell about Andrew. And could further explain why Ham have never commented on AMW.

No. The Phillips's don't receive any public funding. That's why they have to lower themselves by doing deals with 'Hello'.

I took a moment to read Harriet's interview in Hello.

I've just read it. It's fairly anodyne. A lot of it was already in the public domain.

Thank you.

I think it was done carefully - at a spa hotel, rather than at home, not giving away private family details, the Hello fee going to Home-Start.

I suspect the new role is with the Centre for Early Childhood.

StartupRepair · Today 11:19

She seems very sweet and grounded. Slight sense that she no longer 'needs' to work.

They could work like other people have to do.

BemusedAmerican · Today 11:25

To be fair to Harriet, she does talk about the charity through out the article and how her 24 years as a NHS nurse made her realize how important support for children and their families is in the early years.

She's also respectful of Anne and Catherine. She comes across as a RF team player who is going to support them rather than bring them down.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · Today 11:32

AN Wilson has been allowed access to a laptop to write in the Mail again - this time conjecturing that WillKate must have known about the letter.

Every time I read one of his articles I remind myself this is the historian who proclaimed in print his belief that Queen Victoria was illegitimate. I read that he retracted it, but did he not look at the portraits of Vic and the Duke of Kent before making a tit of himself?

I think he married Meghan in defiance to have one up on the palace.
He found a very willing accomplice & they very quickly became the enemies within.

This is why I think they will stick with each other. They are each other's soul mate (albeit in a toxic negative way) and each of them has needs that are fulfilled by the other one.

It really is them against the world.

Imagine Tommy J is the Prince of England's brother in law, uncle to the King's grandchildren & Samantha their auntie & sister in law to 6th in line to the throne .

I actually think the Markles got off lightly compared to the hideous scrutiny the "Middle Class Middletons " got from the press.

I imagine the (borrowed) plates are flying at Wace Manor this morning. It's the sort of thing Meghan would love to do.

I don't really care about Harriet doing it.
She's not a working royal - so there is no conflict.
She's not merching her titles - because neither she or PP have any

So if a magazine offers them some money to waft around the garden in different outfits - why not? Helps pay some of the school fees.
