And all Meghan had to do was stiff upper lip, say absolutely nothing & most importantly "never complain, never explain "... but no she had to make a statement with infactual information no wonder she made a crap royal when she couldn't even do the easiest thing (keeping your mouth shut) ever...

AutumnCrowOnTheUFO · Yesterday 23:15

So is it possible that in Jan 2019, the Met/‘Fixated’ Team thought this letter was just so unimportant and unthreatening that they simply gave the original to Meg at her request, because it was seen as a private and embarrassing family argument?

And Meg is now able to provide a copy because she’s had or has the original in her possession for nearly 8 years?

You have no idea how they will turn out, there are lots of families that move countries often and the children grow up fine. My own mother moved countries when she was younger between Kenya, India and the UK as her Dad was in a diplomatic role she isn't fucked up, didn't need therapy and still had a good education.

Are you going to tell that to the millions of military families who move every two to three years? Are you going to say that to diplomats, foreign service workers, or international business families whose kids grew up in various countries.

Millions of normal, stable, and highly successful people grow up moving across countries and adapting to new environments. Travelling for a work contract isn't trauma, it is just life.

It might not be the typical thing people do but it doesn't make it wrong or fucked up and it doesn't mean the children will grow up needing therapy their entire life.

Oh come on, please.

Moving every two to three years is slightly different. You mention the army as one example - there are likely systems in place to make each environment seem as normal as possible, there will always be numerous other people there who have a shared experience of moving around, etc. It’s not comparable to this current situation.

In the last two months:

Pulled out of their school, apparently with no chance to say goodbye to their friends and teachers (cos, security)
Moved to a different country, climate, landscape etc
Started at a new school with all that entails (new uniform, teachers, classmates)
Two days later, repeat the whole school thing again
Now possibly being taken to the other side of the world for a few weeks

Not to mention the effect that the current situation is going to have on their home life (they won’t necessarily know WHAT is going on, but kids pick up on moods, emotions, etc).

So no, this is not normal. Right now, the kids should be put first. At the very least, H stays home and continues to help settle them into their new life/school here. Still a bit shit, am sure they’d feel unsettled and miss their mum. Personally, I think M would be best to turn down the job, stay here and focus on the family unit. She’s cut other aspects of her life for her children and right now this should be a no brainer decision regarding her children.

Does this so called "fixated team" actually exist??

Agatha Christie had a thing or three to say about the islanders who find it hard to imagine any life different to their own. I smell small minds on small estates closing the cards tight around the bosom while pursing lips...

readbutdonotpostoften · Yesterday 23:24

@AutumnCrowOnTheUFO No I think the Met statement does say there were concerns about the content of the letter and therefore passed it onto office of DDOS.

@Starryfifty I may have got the exact name of the dept wrong but it seems as though it does exist from various reports, and there apparently have been quite a few people added to it in relation to HAM.

Isn’t it a bit insulting to have someone judging who knows less than the contestants?
It’s like putting Jeremy Clarkson on the judging panel of ‘Strictly’.
Plus, she’s hardly a natural around kids is she?
“Have you ever been to California?” to the little girl in one of the most deprived places in England.
I expect there will be many takes. There’s a huge difference between acting somone else’s lines and being yourself.

She's not natural at all, she'll think she's being wholesome & warm when in fact she'll come across as patronising, the poor bake off kids...

These people suck the joy out of playing cards in a game called Bridge.

God ive tried to play it. I really have. I’ve been to classes and learned the rules and then relearned them when the jeffing rules have been changed just because they can. But who can enjoy playing a game of cards designed for 4 people when only 3 are allowed to play the game? FO.

canklesmctacotits · Yesterday 23:37

Just seen the Spectator’s Alexander Larman expressing sympathy with the position Meghan finds herself in. Given the glaring discrepancies in the story, akin to the glaring lies in the Oprah interview etc, I have a horrible feeling the right wing press are lining her up to have the mother of all goes at her soon.

This is a story about child sexual abuse. Meghan has released statements herself to The Sun, via friends to Hello! magazine (fgs). The commentary is all about Meghan Markle and her image, whether as curated by her or as commented on by others. Yes I know CSA is committed routinely around the world by all sorts of men and that it’s the Meghan link that makes this case especially newsworthy. But the whole centering of it around Meghan, and the encouragement of such centering by her directly and via her pals, and the press circling like vultures because they smell blood - it makes the story ALL about Meghan Markle. It’s a filthy, tawdry, debased crime that’s being talked about like a soap opera storyline. So low, on all their parts.

Writing horrible comments saying the children are going to be fucked up and need therapy isn't funny nor a game to play.

So much for leaving the children out of it.

Absolutely right. But they don’t have Meghan and Harry for parents. Wherever they live those poor kids are fucked. Because of their parents. And poor Lillibet was fucked from the start anyway with that choice of name. If she has any sense - which I hope for her she does, except she might not, after all, the generational bollocks foisted upon her by her dad might extend to intellect -she will change that name pretty sharpish when she can. Archie will get by, I guess. His dysfunctional ma has already forgotten he exists.
